    Morning 6.

BTW, we changed up the mooseburger this year. Instead of beef suet we used Fletchers Bacon Ends and pieces at 10% ratio ... OMG :hungry: and the aroma when it cooks is amazing.

X2 ... thoughts and prayers for Charlie continue daily.

    I don't doubt that a bit. :)

Glad your patrol was quiet ... They probably have your schedule figured out and know better than to mess with "that crazy old man." ;)

And  Good Morning to you too Ken.

My son and I installed the Redline hood struts yesterday; another mod I don't know why I waited to do. Very nice product.

... And snow in Anchorage yesterday morning with a trace here at the house; swapped to Winter tires ... Here we go.

:pccoffee: :pccoffee: Long day today. A 2-hour one-way commute on busy highways filled with angry people in a *huge* hurry to get to jobs they hate, followed by a full day of meetings and interruptions. Then another 2 hours back home. Ugh.

But then I'm off until next Monday! :woot:

    Thinking of you Charlie.

    Damn punks.

I know there's a lot of the same up here, but fortunately it doesn't seem to happen around our neighborhood. We have a lot of Troopers, local LEO, corrections officers, and retired military living here. Plus a lot of dogs to sound the alarm. The trooper cruiser parked next door probably does more prevention than any alarm system sign I could post.

This pr. is to young to drive 14 or so. Thats y they keep coming back to the same houses over & over.. Dont know y the parents dont know where the kids are at 3,4 or 5 AM... Police dont care cuz they know the bleeding heart juvenile judge will do nothing to the kids.. We asked for a meeting with the city commissioner But thats not going to happen now till after Nov the 4th. This has put us in a bad place as a neighborhood. We Will NOT give up our streets to young thugs its just not the right thing to do.. We have the right to stand up for our self in Fla if it comes to that.

This is the only forum I know of that is specifically for 60+. I found this place after buying my 98 Tacoma, and peek in once in a while. Bored this morning, I decided to say hello.

I have a bit of difficulty with my own approach to old age, but when I read about the medical problems of others I realize I am quite lucky.

I went back to work after three years of retirement, just to keep people from bothering me, always beginning the requests with, "You have nothing better to do, how about ...." Usually it involved a major house repair and zero compensation.

To keep this somewhat in line with prior posts, game cameras do work. The word goes out after you catch the first person. Your property is avoided thereafter.

Cameras are now available that will transmit pics in real time to a 'puter or phone. Even if they steal the camera, you have pics of them doing so.

I had some idiot digging up my yard. I caught him dressed in black, at 2AM, in the pouring rain. He mentioned defending himself with his shovel. I mentioned that the 12 gauge and 1911 countered the shovel.

It was so black out that with his wardrobe it was difficult to even make out a person in the pics, but all he knew was that I had pics, and he spilled his gut to the cops.

Jim, check that ... punk brought a shovel to a gun fight.

Sorry Manic Mike, no disrespect intended ... I just couldn't help myself.

Thanks for the update John. I can almost hear Charlie's comments on the room situation in my head! :angrygirl::facepalm::rant::crazy::annoyed: I'd be thinking about another hospital too from the sounds of it. It's also unfortunate to hear that his pain level hasn't gone down. That just makes all the rest of it harder to tolerate.

As for the hospital bills, I don't know why they bother when they know full well they'll be paid a fraction of that. My hip surgery netted a $77.5K bill from the hospital; Blue Cross paid them $9K and they said thankyouverymuch. Doctor billed $11K, got paid $1.5K. Medicare will pay at the same level.

Home/neighborhood security: I don't want to jinx anything so I'm just going to say I'm glad we live where we live, and leave it at that. Even so there have been some reports in the area over the past few months, so I may end up with some more electronic doodads myself.

Glad you decided to say hello ... don't be a stranger. I hang around all you "Cool Old Dudes" to learn, and because my values seem to align with your generation.

I've lucked into a position that I honestly believe I can stay in 'til I'm 67. Already collecting my Active Duty Air Force retirement check; God willing and my health holds, my current plan is to not ever retire, just keep working on achieving and collecting retirement checks. ;)

Have a great day Sir! :)

Cool isn't it? I think it says something about the forum and the people who run it and frequent it.
You young punks are the only downside to this place. [IMG][IMG]
I spent a couple of hours last night over a beer and some hot wings discussing a possible move away from my current "full time" (more like 60+ hours/week) gig and into something that will let me set my own hours. I'm not ready to stop altogether - in point of fact some of the stuff I'm involved with is really cool, changing the world in its own quiet way (IPv6 for anyone with some 'net savvy). But the workload and the bonehead management have me at the end of my metaphorical rope. It's so bad that I'm considering walking away from a job that I 80% love. Maybe this new opportunity will get me free of the idiocy and long hours and still let me keep my hand in the game. We'll see.
    Good morning Rob Three. ;)

 Morning All. lot of early risers today:D

Just don't pull a Zimmerman on us Jim, we need you around:D...

Thanks for the update John. The person in the bed next to Chas probably don't even have insurance so we'll (as taxpayers) be picking up his tab:eek:. they should bring back wards to put the not-insured in instead of a room. Give Chas. our best and thoughts and prayers going out to him and his wife everyday.

Welcome Mike, drop in more often as we discuss Everything. Great group including the youngun's...

Hey wdb, gave up my last job at 65 1/2 because of the BS getting too deep and now I work on my schedule... life is good:thumbsup:...money isn't as good, but my sanity is still intact( I think??). Gotta do what is best for you. Hope all works out for you.:D
