X2 Ken. I would have expected the same from a Marine, business first then party.

X2 Tom, I was a member of a detail for a sailor who died while performing the duties of his job on a carrier off the coast of Nam and there wasn't a dry eye. Very sad and somber and I had all I could do to keep my composure. After the presenting of the Flag to his Mom, I almost lost it...when we were dismissed the LT. in charge of the detail told us to take the rest of the day off and reflect on what we just saw and did... It shouldn't have to be a requirement but out of respect for the Fallen that congressmen and senators should go...Ken

Morning All, ^^^ Some sad post to read this morning. A fu%#ing landfill , OMG. When you think the Gov. can get no lower, they do..Going to read up on what went on this weekend and send a email to Marco Rubio first think Mon. morning. He came to the Vet.center when he was running for the Senate and told us he would be looking out for the Vets if we helped send him to DC. Now we will see going to ask him to make SURE something like this can not happen anymore.................Mark how old was this Marine. I guess it was not your place to say something to him (or them) but as a nco I would not have been so nice. In full color guard dress and you do something like this, were is the pride anymore?........ Now for my pisser of the day the other half works for the Orl. power Co.. They had a flag raising yesterday on the lawn at her office over 100 folks work in that place and only 15 came out to stand around the flag. Most were the old vets. she was pissed. She was crying on the back porch last night telling me about what went on. I told her to blow it off there will always be ass holes that do not care about the folks that keep watch over all of us. I told her that you can lead a jackass to pride but you cant make him drink it.. Rant is over for today...... Jim

    Jim,

He was a SGT - mid 20s. I didn't get a chance to see him - he had already been excorted out to their van by our public safety folks and I was tied up in the ceremony and Gala. Byt the time I could get out, they were gone. I have a statement from our PS director and am waiting for some substantiating info from on of the Gala staff - and then I'm off to the reserve center to talk to the First Sergeant.

afternoon all: got a used cap for the tacoma this morning. spent a few hrs. cleaning it up. it's not color matching but it don't look too bad. pretty happy with it. could have bought a new one, but can't justify spending 12-14 hundred for something that i'd be lucky to get $600 for tomorrow.

was reading posts, unbelievable that a marine would get drunk while on an assignment like that.

didn't they have some type of problem at walter reed, several years ago? there's another instance involving vets.

maby the problem is that a lot of our politicians were never in the military, and they're more concerned about other things that they can waste money on.

finally! surf and turf last night. EYES and MOUNTAIN BEEF :hungry:

Morning everyone! Gray skies here in northeast PA.

I think I have some coyotes getting little too bold approaching our house - they are marking my driveway within 50 yards of the house. Might be time for a night ambush.

    Thank you Jim and everyone.......

Sorry I haven't been around lately.
I want to really express my gratitude for the PMs I've received with thoughts and prayers and genuine concern for my wife.
We're going to get through this. It won't be easy, but we're confident that she has the best Doctors taking care of her. They are so busy, JoAnne's surgery is not scheduled until the 8th. She would like to do it tomorrow and get it done, which is a good sign that she's positive everything will be OK.
I ask that my "old" buddy's still keep her in mind. I told her everyone here is rooting for her!
    Thank you so much,
    Rob & JoAnne
