Don't blame you on the bad weather flying avoidance ... Mother Nature can be an evil b*tch when she wants--no need taking the chance.

    Morning all:
Paul; thanks for posting the write up. I had never seen or heard of them, but not too long ago a pic. of a restored one was on ice shanty, then I stumbled onto the one I posted on predatormasters, learn something new every day!
As for winter gas, it seems like the 4 Toyotas I have owned drop 3-4 mpg when they switch to winter gas. The young guy I fish with noticed the same thing with his Tacoma.

    Hey - that's my line. ;)

I run ethanol free gas in the small engines around here. And I'll drive 20 miles out of my way with the gauge on 'E' before I buy what I call 'gypsy brand' gas, which drives my wife a little crazy sometimes. Paul that station near you should be shut down and the owners fined within an inch of their lives. If you had those problems I have to wonder how many other folks did too, how many dollars worth of damage were done to how many pieces of machinery.
Sure does! The folks in the oil fields aren't quite as happy about it unfortunately. The US is currently the world's largest oil/gas producer; I don't think that status will last very long at these prices.

    Hi oldtimers,

Can someone educate me on what the hell "winter gas" is?

I'm fortunate in that there are many stations around here that sell ethanol free gas, I use it for my weedwacker & boat. Too expemsive to use in my truck though.

Me, too. He would'a hurt my car :( How's the pup today? Getting better?

    thanks Mark, me, too.

Winter gas has ethanol in it... supposed to be good for air polution - less, but it makes the mileage suck  and it's not good for engines

In my area they bump the ethanol from 10% to 15% in the winter. The closest non ethanol gas is at the PA line in Rising Sun MD.

Yes, very much so, thanks for asking. I really think he's going to be fine; swelling has gone down in the eye and you can see it's tracking with the other one. He's getting around practically like normal, as well as possible wearing the cone collar, jumps up on bed or chairs and everything. Won't be able to tell amount of, if any, vision loss until stitches come out. Kristi is scheduling follow-up appt for Monday.

    Rob:
Sounds like the pup is getting better. That is good! :)

Need to find out if Dollar rent a car has XM radio. The thought of 11 days in a car without decent music is not what I want to do. My back up plan is to activate an old XM MyFi that I have lying around in the garage.

Looking for a good source of firewood today. My wood pile has almost run out.

 Good Morning Tom, and thank you.

IIRC correctly, every car we've rented last 4 years has had XM. But I don't recall if any of them were thru Dollar. :notsure: :sorry: We rent a car every time we visit lower 48.

Good luck with the wood hunt. ;)
