Evening all! Thanks for the kind words - we have a tremendous team at the college and take our mission seriously...I guess it's an old Army habit.

We are supposed to be getting some snow but nothing like the folks in NJ, CN and MA - maybe a few inches for us over the next two days. At least that's the current prediction. Of course, the timing sucks since tomorrow is the first day of classes for the Spring semester.

We have a 20Kw generator here at the house - auto throw after 13 seconds without power and auto shut-off after power is restored. I have a 1000 gal submarine buried in our yard that feeds it - along with our boiler and cook top. It's come in handy - longest we ran off it was 5 days continuously after Hurricane Sandy.

    Be safe everyone!!

Hi sixtys. Sounds like everyone is battening down the hatches. I'm along the western edge of the storm path, ready for it and glad not to be in the eye.

Our generator is a Honda gasoline unit that runs everything I need it to run. I connect it to the breaker panel and just shut off things like the clothes dryer. I looked at the whole house units but did not want to invest in an enormous propane tank. I can run the Honda all day on 5-8 gallons of gas. We shut it down at night and let the wood stove keep things warm enough.

We've run for over 7 days on generator; we're usually among the last to have power restored due to being out at the edge of the local electrical grid and lightly populated. Hope that doesn't happen this time!

    Be safe out there folks.

    Evening people of the 60.

I don't believe it but they shut down the shop tomorrow.
    :woot::yes::yes::yes::yes:

Just got home and finished the outside stuff.
I took affirmative action and set up the gen before i needed it.
The wind whips around and buries the back of the garage where i take out the gen.
So I took it out to where it has to go and put a big cardboard box over the engine. So the only thing i really need to do is shovel around it if i need to.
Here is a pic of the old girl.
She's a sexy little thing that lets you know she is running.

This was before i put on the big ass muffler to quiet it down.

Sorry Susan! I'll amend it: 'Morning sixtys and wannabes ;)

Big blizzard was a big fizzle. We still got a lot of wind, some snow, and two days of gloom out of it. That's fine by me. It's only January and already I'm wishing winter was over.

No natural gas here Paul. No public water, no public sewer either. We're true country bumpkins. We heat water and cook with gas so we have a 100gal propane tank though. Too small to run a generator.

No real snow here, either. We've had maybe 2 inches, max and expect another inch or so through today. No complaints, though!

For those in New England, stay safe!!

    Morning everyone.

    Didn't miss us here.
Coming down hard. Wind gusting but not the extream they are saying right now.
The only good thing right now is that it's suppose to stay light weight.
I am so thankful they shut the shop down. In a bit it will beyond safe even for adventurous 4x4 nuts.

I'll get some pics every now and then untill we lose power.
6" so far and it has just been upgraded to official blizzard. The snow is now sideways and just kicked up a notch as I type this. Time for coffee.
    I'll be back.

Well for those that know. I got a new welding teacher last night. so far i really like him. a lot more open minded about how each person maybe better at different techniques and learns a little differently.

we got a heavy dusting of snow can still see some grass and at all roads are covered I was kinda hoping we would get an unexpected 10” lol. I love snow way more i think i should!! I could see my self moving out west(CO/UT/MT/Idaho or some where like that) or north east.
