Ditto that! Glad to hear it too.
Yes indeed. I went out in a hurricane a few years ago to try and help my folks whose power had gone out. They have sump pumps and a backup system but the backup failed and water was coming in. Normally 30 minute drive took me over 2 hours, and I thanked my lucky stars when I finally made it there. Moral: don't go out during a big storm unless you absolutely must.

    Glad to hear Zach.
The teacher makes the student no matter what anyone says IMO.
I have taught in a few areas myself.
nothing academic but, i always made sure i complimented the student( sometimes 40 ) at least twice a class. i also made sure I talked to each one
by asking a question about the subject or something in general.

    True story.
Was teaching a Martial Arts class and i was SICK.. I mean sooo sick.
    Kids class.
So i asked if someone wanted to teach the class. No hands.
I went to the shyest girl and asked her. She didn't even look up.
So i told her i was to sick and i needed help.
Now this kid was good and her technique was excellent.
So i asked her just to do the warmup.
    hot dam she said ok.
I explained to the class what was going on and she was in charge.
So it was a little ruff at the start but she got through it.
By the time we got into our blocks and strikes i had created a monster.
She was awesome. Her mother came in and couldn't believe it. She had tears coming down her face watching her. I was sitting on the floor in the corner just adding a word here and there. The class taught itself that day.
After class the girl came up and gave me a big hug while i was still sitting on the floor. Now i had tears in my eyes.
Never knew what happened to her because i left the studio shortly after but, I hope i made a lasting memory for her she could carry with her.

Oh dam off topic again. Sorry. A very special memory for me.

    ANYWAY......
    Her are a few pics.

#1 my gen getting buried in the back yard.
#2 starting to get a 2 foot drift by the garage.

    Morning all:
Lucked out here: yesterday maybe 2" of snow, overnight maybe another1/8", they were predicting 8-12" here.
Stay safe there Mike, looks like you hit the jackpot this time.
Sure glad I didn't buy a new snow blower, they attract snow! ;)

Good story Mike, no off topic here, we have to relay our thoughts before we forget what we had on our mind! :D

Yeah I agree a teacher can make or break a class.
If a student dose not know what he or she is doing and a teacher dose not really know or can’t explain things very well than he most likely wont be helping the student out much.

Thats how i felt with the old teacher. I just did not see me learning much from him.

Thats an awesome story I’m sure she remembered that for ever!

    I now want muffins!

I just use the keurig. we have the little things you can put ground bagged coffee in I usually only have 1 or 2 cups a day and i usually have some kinda flavored coffee grounds, I don’t add sugar or creamer or anything unless it’s plain coffee i’ll add some kinda flavored creamer.

Parents use the big coffee pot a lot that makes like 10 or 12 cups. dad will reheat it in the evening and have some or even the next day. I don’t like that i think it taste different lol.

Zach: Sounds like the new teacher is a win!

We had a light dusting of snow but the schools are closed. Took the free time to start and prep the laundry room for painting. Everything is off the walls and the heavy dusting is complete. Lunch is done so it is now time to fill holes with spackle.

Nice story about the class Mike! I had an experience like that with one kid back when I coached soccer. It's an incredible feeling to watch a kid find something inside themselves right in front of your eyes.

I dunno what you guys call coffee though! Maybe I've become a coffee snob but I don't reheat it, even in the microwave, because it tastes like crap to me. And our coffeemaker brews into an insulated carafe too, no heating element under there either.

Hmmm. Yep, I have become a coffee snob.

Great news on the teacher, Zach. You're learning a great trade - can you get pipeline certified? People with the certification are worth their weight in gold up here in the Marcellus Shale field.

I admit to being a coffee snob. We have a pot that grinds the beans and brews an individual cup in about 45 seconds. No reheating necessary. Of course, if that's not available than...any port in a storm to get my coffee fix.

Snow is done here for today - really got nothing today. Chance of more though on Thursday and next Monday.

All this coffee talk. Mnnnnn Kona Coffee!

    http://www.sugaikonacoffee.com/

The kitchen makeover starts on Monday. Almost everything is out of the kitchen now. Just some food, spices and bare kitchen cooking gear.

So on Sunday I started to get the laundry room ready. There is a new floor going in the laundry room as part of the kitchen makeover. Some pics for those that are interested.

Basically how the laundry room was. The cabinets were from the old kitchen and were hung 25 years ago. Been painted twice during that time. The cabinets were offer on Freecycle and went is less than an hour. I offered them up in the MD thread with no takers. You would think a young guy with a garage could use some free cabinets.

Today I was able to hit it hard and removed everything else off the wall and put a first coat of mud on the holes and other imperfections. I will do a drywall repair on the corner on the floor. the hole is a little too big for mud repair.

    DSC_0238_zps13d55019_b16b9a269b6b15e8522c9677e235127c9c45d189.jpg

    DSC_0236_zps799dec8e_a877ab8fd6327ad57912d56dc249a2adfa89366a.jpg

The overall project is on schedule, so far. Going to buy wall paint for the laundry room only, primer and ceiling paint for the laundry room and kitchen tomorrow. Sherwin Williams has 30% off right now. SW has a sale all the time so no problem when I buy the paint for the kitchen walls.

    Damn.

    Space cold there.

About the coffee. Lately just wanting it stronger. Old drip finally took a puke after 12 yrs so we're using old school perc. I've been pouring coffee in to the top of basket and want more. Seems drip maker makes it stronger on less coffee. Idk.
    Stay warm.
