    Chat???!! Interesting.

Evening everyone. Had a strange one this evening - had a garage door opener acting up. The contacts on the safety sensors were rusted so I just bought a new set and installed them. I just kept getting 4 successive blinks. Checked the manual on line - the units are 10 years old - and got the infamous Call Customer Service. While standing in the garage waiting on hold I happened to slip the toe of my shoe under the safety sensor receiver on the right of the oor...and it stopped flashing. Removed my shoe from under it...started flashing. Put my shoe back under....stopped flashing. Of course, by the time I got someone on the line they had never heard of this before. So, I slid a canvas bag under the unit for now...door opener works like a charm. Anyone here ever heard of this before?

I hope Paul is on the mend. I haven't heard from Sandy since getting the same note the Rob got. Hopefully he'll be headed to rehab soon!

Sounds like a misaligned sensor. I bent one years ago and had a no op.
Easy to find. The lights were blinking saying the beam was interrupted.

I used a string to align them when I installed them

It's not the alignment Mike - I got the 4 blink code which says it is not getting a signal from the source unit - 3 blinks is the misaligned code. And it is fine when I slide my foot underneath...not touching it, just an inch or two underneath it.

hmmm ... Is the sensor case cracked on the bottom? Try a piece of electrical or duct tape on the bottom of the sensor? Makes me wonder if the beam is escaping/leaking out the bottom and being mis-directed somehow ... :notsure:

    Oh crap.
not the same setup as mine.
You have a artificial toe that acts as a receiver or something ??? LOL

    My sensors are hard wired.
    stops are hard wired.
Can you swap that sensor to a different location??
wonder if it's a crap new sensor.

Had this in my email when I checked this morning: looks like Paul is progressing well.

Just a fast update before my ride takes me back to my apartment. where I don't haveaccess to his email account
As of today they had Paul up and walking the hall ways with help. He is stillin pain as is expected, But in a good mood ,Thursday he will betransferred to the rehab center for a few weeks. Then back home,

    sandy

I think the sensor might be leaking, somehow, too. I'll check the case when I get home from work today - probably will try the electrical tape approach.

Good morning everybody. As usual I'm playing catch-up with all the posts and people.
I just finished moving from the Sierras back to the the redwoods in Humboldt County. I was born and raised here and it's a good place to live.
I changed my avatar around a little to reflect my current status...replaced the saw with a rocking chair.:) Pretty soon I'll trade the rocking chair for a salmon rod and a boat but that's a ways off yet.
Other than helping out a couple of friends with their logging ( a fancy title would be consultant but it's not that fancy a job) and maybe going out on a fire or two I'm officially and completely retired. I've made up my mind and I'm ready for it.

When I get the salmon, you guys will definitely get pictures. I'm shopping for a boat now and if everythig goes right I should be ready when the season opens.

LOL...something I'd forgotten about...buying a used boat is a lot like buying a used car. Lots of junk and snake oil salesmen out there. Luckily I have a good tech advisor. My cousin is a commercial fisherman and he knows boats. When we've gone to look at boats and he starts laughing uncontrollably I know that we've found another clunker.
