    Afternoon all:
We managed to catch 10 walleyes, 4 strippers, 2 smallmouths, and a bluegill last night, we only kept the walleyes.
Nothing big, but the walleyes out of this lake are averaging between 19-22".

    Hi Sue!
Not if we can help it!!!! :D
In the middle 70's to mid 80's, this lake was a tremendous walleye fishery. Hundreds of fishermen were targeting them, and it got pretty well fished out.
They started stocking them again and it's starting to pay off, until the hoards realize that they can be caught in numbers once again. Until then, the young guy and myself are pretty tight lipped about catching them, but if there is anything written about them being caught in good numbers again, the place will be a zoo. It's there for us now, so it's time to take advantage of what's available.
    They are GOOD eating!

    Morning all:
Welcome:cool Dodge!!! I had a 1942 Ford Jeep at one time, should have kept it just for S&G. Was a fun vehicle--no air, heck the thing didn't have a heater either!

The best lawyer story of all time . . . Bar none.

The United Way realized that it had never received a donation from the city's most successful lawyer. So a United Way volunteer paid the lawyer a visit in his lavish office.

The volunteer opened the meeting by saying, 'Our research shows that even though your annual income is over two million dollars, you don't give a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give something back to your community through the United Way?'

The lawyer thinks for a minute and says, 'First, did your research also show you that my mother is dying after a long, painful illness and she has huge medical bills that are far beyond her ability to pay?'

Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbles, 'Uh . . . No, I didn't know that.'

'Secondly,' says the lawyer, 'did it show that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair and is unable to support his wife and six children?'

The stricken United Way rep begins to stammer an apology, but is cut off again.

'Thirdly, did your research also show you that my sister's husband died in a dreadful car accident, leaving her penniless with a mortgage and three children, one of whom is disabled and another that has learning disabilities requiring an array of private tutors?'

The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, says, 'I'm so sorry, I had no idea.'

And the lawyer says, 'So . . . If I didn't give any money to them, what makes you think I'd give any to you.

Looks like all the toys are ready Mike!

:annoyed:Just saw another coyote out in the back yard, grabbed the shotgun and some #4 buck, but couldn't get the light and the gun on him to get a shot. One thing I didn't do was set up for night hunting.

    Morning all.

    Great truck Larry, and welcome.

Enjoying the time here in Illinois with old friends. We were stationed here for seven years from 1987-1994. Fun to see how much things have grown and catch up with folks. Last time I was here was 2004.

LUNCH WITH AN 85 YEAR OLD
One day I had lunch with some old friends. Jim, a short,
balding golfer type, about 85-years old, came along with them; all
in all, it was a pleasant bunch.

When the menus were presented, my friends and I ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups, except for Jim who said, "A large piece of home-made apple pie, heated please."

I wasn't sure my ears heard him right, and the others were aghast when Jim continued, completely unabashed...."along with two large scoops of vanilla ice cream."

We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time, but when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy eating mine - I couldn't take my eyes off of Jim as I watched him savoring each bite of his pie a-la-mode. The other guys just grinned in disbelief as they silently ate their lunches.

The next time I went out to eat, I called Jim and invited him to join me. I lunched on a white meat tuna sandwich, while he ordered a chocolate parfait. Since I was chuckling, he wanted to know if he amused me.

I answered, "Yes, you certainly do, but you also confuse me. How come you always order such rich desserts, while I feel like I must be sensible in my food choices?"

He laughed and said "I'm tasting all that is possible for me to taste. I try to eat the food I need and do the things I should in order to stay healthy, but life's too short, my friend. I hate missing out on something good. This year I realized how old I was. (He grinned) I've never been this old before, so, while I'm still here, I've decided it's time to try all those things that, for years, I've been ignoring."

He continued, "I haven't smelled all the flowers yet. There are too many trout streams I haven't fished. There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead. "There are too many golf courses I haven't played. I've not laughed at all the jokes. I've missed a lot of sporting events and potato chips and cokes.

"I want to wade again in water and feel ocean spray on my face.
I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace. I want peanut butter every day spread on my morning toast. I want un-timed long distance calls to the one I love the most.

"So, if I choose to have dessert, instead of having dinner, then should I die before night fall, I'd say I died a winner,
because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire.
I had that final piece of pie before my life expired."

With that, I called the waitress over.. "I've changed my mind,
" I said. "I want what he's having, only add some more whipped cream!"

This is my gift to you - We need an annual Friends Day! If you get this twice, then you have more than one friend. Live well, love much & laugh often - Be happy and enjoy doing whatever your heart desires. You only go around once on this crazy planet.

SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS including me, if I'm lucky enough to be counted among them. Happiness isn't based on possessions, power, or prestige, but on relationships with people we like, respect, and enjoy spending time with. Remember that while money talks, ICE CREAM SINGS!
