 :pccoffee: This is post #16624 from a bunch of people who are supposedly too old to know how to use any of this internet stuff. To those several younger generations who think that, I have this to say: :brianr:

Just don't ask me to try doing this on my smartphone. :anonymous:

I have crossbow and reuse my ammo, much more cost effective.

    Afternoon all:
I should buy a crossbow, they made them legal here in PA and archery season is long before the gun season.
It's getting to the point that after archery (either buck or doe with a doe lic.), and then an early inline muzzle loader season for doe only, there's not too much left for the rifle season.

I would suggest, that if you want a good one, look at Excalibur before you spend any money. They did a test between recurves and compound for reliability that is very interesting for sure. www.excaliburcrossbow.com

Thanks for the heads up on the Excalibur. I had been doing some research on crossbows, and was reading good reviews about the Excalibur. Seems like they have way more problems with the compound crossbows than with the old style limbed ones. I like the idea that they are simple, which translates into less to go wrong.
I don't know anyone that has an Excalibur, I'm assuming that's what you have.
Definitely at the top of my list if I were to buy a crossbow.

Here's another thought! We have a late archery season also, which opens after Christmas. Maybe I could shoot better with the crossbow than with the flintlock! :)

    Aloha, Old Timers!
Getting really tired of all of these hurricanes coming through the central Pacific. Just dodged one last week, and now another, possible two on the way. Right now we're suffering through the remnants of a Tropical Depression that's left us with 90%+humidity & a lot of rain. Keeping our fingers crossed that none of the storms takes a hit on us. This el Nino crap sucks!

 Good Morning Cool Old Dude thread posters, followers, and wannabes like myself. ;)

Departure for caribou hunt delayed 18 to 24 hrs. Hoping to get some intel from wildlife troopers on herd location before we decide which of the two zones accessible to us we want to register in; once you register, you can't change. They haven't been able to fly all week due to weather; started clearing yesterday, hopefully they'll fly and report this morning.
    :fingerscrossed: Hunt opens Sunday.

I need to look into that crossbow link and research if that's legal here for our bow seasons/hunts. Thanks for sharing Peter.

    Morning all:
    :fingerscrossed: X2 Rob!

Zeroed in on the line of Excalibers last night. Even though the Matrix 405 is the fastest, it seems like the Matrix 380 might be the way to go. From what I read, the 380 is more compact and easier to cock and both get good reviews.
    Any thoughts on that Peter?
Just thinking: I have 2 Jennings S handle bows, 1 Jennings Arrowstar target, and 1 Jennings Arrowstar hunter. All were topline bows that are totally obsolete now and not worth too much!

    Stay safe Cheech!

yeah, weather reports are starting to get scary.

In my 61 years living here, this is by far the worst season I've seen.

Morning All...Been busier being retired then when I was working:eek:. Slowing down a bit now. Trying to catch up on everything going on in the thread. HI and Welcome to all the new folks. Enjoy. Congrats to you snoope on the new addition to the family:woot:. Hope the weather gets better for the Islands of Hawaii Cheech. Weather is bad all over these days. Global warming:confused:... Hey Carl, have you noticed the price of brass, live rounds and guns goes up in proportion to demand because of every time Obama pushes for more gun controls. Too early to start a rant. On a different note, took the Tacoma in for all of the recalls (5 of 'em) and got a call that they are all done except for frame rust. Need a new frame:eek::confused:. I pick it up this morning and will find out how long of a waiting list there is for the frame and replacement. Other threads say a 6 to 8 month wait just for the frame. Anyone else take theirs in for the frame rust recall? Have a good Saturday all and be safe out there.

Cheech, hope the weather gods spare you! Snoope, congratulations! Wow, FL to China - that *is* a long haul. Rob, hope your hunt is successful this year. to everyone else.

EDIT: Ken, you posted as I was typing. 2007 vehicle and they're going to replace the frame, wow! On the one hand it bugs me to no end that the frames rust so much, on the other hand it is impressive that they'll do the job on an 8-year-old vehicle. Maybe its because it is a safety issue and the law makes them do it. Please keep us informed! I was planning on keeping my Taco a long, long, longlonglong time, and I'd like to know how it turns out for you.

Morning Dave:wave:. I was just reading about the hurricanes in the Pacific:eek:. Ignacio is the closet to Hawaii and is classed a class 1 right now and behind this one is Jimena which is classed as a class 4 with winds as high as 125. Prayers:pray: for Cheech and everyone in Hawaii that the storms miss them.

    Morning all:
On the brass and ammo for the 6.5 Rem.Mag, I think they stopped making it, they did that once before. It can be formed from other belted Magnum cases, but that's a PIA!

Congrats to snoope on the new granddaughter!

The young guy I fish with was told needs to get the frame replaced on his "06" TRD. It's been several months, and I don't think they called him to bring it in yet.
Which reminds me, I need to make an appointment for the recalls.

Stay safe for you guys that are getting hit with the weather.
Also Bob, the number of fires out West is crazy.

Congrats snoope. Cheech, hope there are better times ahead for you.

Long waits on frames Ken. Can't avoid it.
Although I can set up a rant fest for like 5 pages on various things I can't with these frames. Toyota is stepping up like no one else. My advise is get everything maint. wise done while it's apart. They should cut labor like in half or for free. Like new rear shocks labor free. Timing belts 1/2 time etc. exhaust work. Brakes. Make a new truck out of it. They should do things like that. They don't have to... But they should...

Thanks for the information Mike, I have been putting off the clutch and when they do the frame, it sounds like an excellent time to get it done. I'll start my list. How's the fishing going?
