Busy Tom?

Spent all morning in the woods; saw another TAIL!
One here, one there, haven't found a place that I would want to carry a portable tree stand into yet. Hunting on the ground with a bow isn't the ideal situation.

 

Went over to the parents' new apartment today and hung more pictures - for what *could* be the last time. My dad, who in his day built additions to homes, poured reinforced concrete foundations, fabricated faux 'beams' to cover uneven ceiling seams, fixed the hell out of a lot of cars, and did lots and lots of other cool shit when he wasn't being a kickass electronics engineer with sooper sekrit security clearance, took the hammer out of my hand on the last picture and hung it himself. He has a 'den' in the new place upon which walls he intends to hang a bunch of stuff. I expect he will do them himself. For me that is a very cool thing. I'm not sure how to convey just how cool it is. It's like he woke back up.

Change is good. Even at 90.

Off for the early morning walk; AHHH - I mean hunt! Don't look good, these suckers aren't going into rut, and It's supposed to get warm again.

Just thinking: Couple of you mentioned having family in TX when the hurricane was predicted to cause heavy flooding. They dodged that, but it looks like they are getting hit hard with flooding due to another storm, hope all is well.

Much better this morning! Saw 3 buck, one right where I turn in to hunt, one in the woods that I think was the same one I had standing in front of me, and had to slam on the brakes so I wouldn't hit another one crossing the road!
They're moving, at least for today!

 

Found a organizer. Half full already. Still have a bunch of boxes to sort.

 

Good looking bins unit Mike. Where'd you find it? I should look for something similar and make sorting out the abomination the top lid compartments of my toolboxes are a Winter project.

 

I got it at Home Depot. It's made by husky. Wasn't even looking for it. Just browsing. Like 21 bucks.

Kinda hard going from ice cube to desert??

 

It's only been as high as 83°F so far this trip, which I guess is normal this time of year. In AK so far this year we've been getting lows in upper 20s to mostly 30s and highs 40s - low 50s. I'm thinking timing our visits (or at least when I come along with Kristi) for Oct/Nov and Mar/Apr, the transition won't be too bad. Seriously thinking we might snowbird eventually when we fully retire; Winter here and Summer in Alaska to fish and hunt. We'll see.

 

Sounds like a great plan to retire.

Well bought 6 cans of spray bed liner and a gallon. I should have enough to do two roll cabs. Just to bad winter is coming. I may do a drawer now and then but doing the whole thing will have to wait. Took a while to find the stuff I wanted. So pressure wash and sanding with a wipe of mineral spirits should prep it enough.

 

Here they come..snow blowers to get ready for winter. Second one is easy. Oil change and a new starter. Fried the commutator and brush holder. At least my boy didn't wait till it was snowing lol.
