I had my chainsaw kick back on me while bucking up some wood at home. Had the tip too close to the ends of some rounds and when it cut thru what I was working on, hit the ends and up it came. 21 stitches in my face, missing my left eye and teeth luckily. I pay attention to the tip closely now. Usually have a 28" bar I'm working with.

    Very lucky..
Neighbor down the street almost got his arm cut off with a saw. He's ok but it was touch and go for a while. Saws are not something to fool with. If I'm not in the right mood I don't take it out. I fix a lot of them so they are always around.....

Had a nice sunny day yesterday here in the Pacific NW. Used the warmth to install my door sill protectors (OEM) and replace the Plasticolor floppy flaps with new Rokblokz. What a difference! A little spendy, but extremely high quality mud guards and hardware! Highly recommend them. Another warm day coming today, going to get the AVS vent visors installed.

When I cut my face with my chainsaw, a few other folks you see in the grocery store relate their experiences. I live in timber country, so most have some hint of the dangers of using a saw. Even had a carpenter tell me of his kicking back while working on a house. Shoulder injury there. One of my neighbors lost his life over a year ago in a wood cutting incident. At least he had been retired for sometime, so got to enjoy not working.

Last day at work today, did maybe five minutes of work after getting in 90 minutes later than normal and leaving 90 minutes early, just a day to go around the three story building saying good bye to people I've met the last 11 years. Did get offered five phone numbers and/or email addresses from the ladies and one invite to go to dinner when back in town, since my place is two hours away. Got home, got a chair out of the garage, went to my deck, set the chair down and got a beer and pretzels and relaxed a bit. :) Non-contribuing member of society now.

After retiring I was asked what it was like to be retired. I replied that you have to go through a period of adjustment. Next question was how long did that take? My answer was: well I pulled out of the parking lot at work and drive to my turn at the first major intersection about 1/2 mile away, by that time I was pretty well adjusted.

Next question: what do you do with your time? Answer, well I have 6 Saturday's a week and the 7th day is the Lord's day, so I do whatever I want whenever I want.
