Yes, if you go out at 62, your monthly check will be less than if you go out at 66. A CPA friend of mine said that for every year earlier you retire, you need to live & collect 12 years more to make up the difference in retiring early.

    Evening all:

    When will I learn !!!!
Just got done weed wacking for 2hrs. and 45 minutes straight, with 1 5min refuel, went through almost 2 tanks of gas, and have a lot more to do. :annoyed:
Wasn't overly hot, but I'm sweating and a dirty mess as usual, and will be back at it tomorrow! :(
I left it go too long and now it's taking a lot longer to trim the areas that I normally do. This is the second time I am doing it this year, but it should be the third!

I feel for you! I hate weed wacking and consider weedwackers to be devil-machines.

Bottom line as far as I am concerned about SS, hopefully you made enough to draw the max allowed when you apply, because 0% to 1.5% increases per year are the norm...and BTW medicare goes up by more than that every year, at least I think so...but yet we are told COLA is flat just because gas went down....hope your all happy with what your getting...and with medicare.
I weed wacked this morning..only 92 degress and if it was not 100% humidity it was damn close...

Oh man don't get me started on COLA calculations. Food prices haven't gone up, okay I guess? Then what is up with the box of cereal you use as a unit of measure? It might cost the same but guess what, it is half as big as it used to be!

total loss, i'm sure, most if not all of the modules, harnesses, switches, motors, etc. were compromised, at least that was the adjusters decision. And i agreed. i didn't wanna have to deal with potential electrical gremlins.

One day I was discussing the same thing with someone awhile back, and he said COLA/inflation adjustments were based on WAGES going up, not prices going up. I had to think about that, but do tend to believe it since wages have been pretty stagnant but prices keep going up, and they keep saying there's no inflation.

I would have to believe Mike would know, and even though that stinks, I would tend to agree that you are probably better off in the long run as he is saying if there was that much electrical damage done.

Insurance is covering this? Act of God? Sounds like they will if an adjuster came out.

Have not heard about my SS benefit claim yet. Unfortunately, I have to be out of town next week to work at my late moms place, my brother and S-I-L are coming out from CO, so we'll see what develops with selling and working on moms place.

Had a low speed fall over on my dirt bike, hit a small stump while negotiating to get back on a dirt road. Rib hurts to sleep on my back, but can sleep on either side with no pain. Good side, if I sneeze, no pain. I've had a broken rib before and is a killer when sneezing.

NorCal/Nor Nev Coleman Gathering this coming weekend at North Fork CG off of I-80, a little west of Truckee, CA. I'm headed there Friday morning, truck is loaded with lanterns and camp gear etc., just have to load up my ice chests with appropriate warm weather beverages and a little food. :)

One of the Mammoth sunflowers in my garden is about 10' high, don't know why just the one is that tall, others are a little, to much shorter. Been eating turnips, crook neck squash and some greens from the garden. Corn has the silks showing and the tassels are creating pollen. Pumpkins have sent out some long runners and should bloom soon. Morning lows are still in the low 40's.

Sorry to hear it but I have to agree that it's best in the long run to move on to the next one. If you have done mods to the truck, make sure the adjuster knows about them. If they don't change the value ask if you can remove them. I went through this with 2 vehicles recently; for one of them the mods increased the value, for the other they made no difference. I pulled off what I could, sold it, got a little more of my investment back.

Dang now you made me look it up. ;) COLA is based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). It looks at what a typical household earns and spends. It does include food along with a bunch of other stuff typically purchased -- and about 4,000 gallons of geekspeak so that normal mortals can't make sense of it!

    Morning
My friend modded a truck a long time ago and got it totaled.
He kept all the old parts. When it was done he swapped everything back to the totaled truck..lol
Reused most of what he got on another one. Don't know if it would fly now. Tires suspension etc.
Gave the impound guys some cash for allowing him to do it. It was totaled so............

I bought my totaled STi back from the insurance company, took off some stuff, then sold the remains as a whole. Came out ahead dollar-wise, assuming my labor was free. :)
