Maybe you should start doing brake jobs in the she shed for $600 a pop!

BILL GATES THEORY PUT TO REST.
If Bill Gates drops a $100 bill or a $1000 bill and goes back to pick it up he loses money. False. That’s like if bill Gates eats a bowl of corn flakes or take a shit he stocks plummet. He makes money in his sleep. So if he’s talking , walking or playing his xbox if his stocks are growing that day he’s making money. Now picking up a $100 is like us picking up a 1/32 of a pennie. It ain’t gonna make a fucking difference in our lives. Same same. Jeff Bezos and Gates make and lose tons. They’ve lost 10billion in on money and didn’t cry. Because they understand how the market goes up and down. Shit at one point Bezos was at $161,000,000,000.00 USD. Now after dating a news lady and wife took a bite of his as he and bill are tied around 108B. They see wholesale not retail. They see money as a replenishable RESOURSE to futher advance there innovations and that’s it. We see that as hookers, houses, cars, wine, drugs, jewelry, clothes TACOMAS whatever.
Ps. I have a friend , younger cat. 20 years old we were walking and he dropped a $20. I said hey bro you dropped a $20 he said eh that’s too far back. WTF! I ran back a pocketed that shit. Now he’s white but his beautiful mom married the head cheif counsel for the San Manuel Indian tribe (10 min from my house) so step dad brought in $50k a month and he got a $4,500 monthly allowance and 3 cars paid cash and his own pad and all expenses paid so it was play money. He didn’t need the 20. Gates doesn’t need the $100. That’s the point. He makes money dreaming about solving world hunger and wakes up rubbing his eyes $980,000,000 more than when he went to bed. So for what the moral of the story? There is none. And my comment about the brakes is 4 pages back!

And that's why it's only a theory lol. The whole thing is contingent on "either / or" instead of "and".

My factory rotors are still on my 2007 with 201,000 miles. The pads have been replaced twice and the rotors turned by a local independent mechanic. The cost was about $120 each time. Gonna need new rotors at about 250K. The rear pads have been replaced once.

i still don't understand how people are toasting brakes and warping rotors with super low miles, I couldn't toast my brakes or warp my rotors no matter how hard I tried, im at 70k miles with the original setup and I still got meat on the pads

In defense of the worn pads, the layout of LA's road system, coupled with the moderately crazy drivers there, straight up sucks. I've driven through many times, and this summer I was stupid enough to pull my trailer through that town. I think the worst abuse my truck suffered on that entire 6000+ mile cross-country road trip was the short drive from Malibu to Van Nuys. Brake-jam city. (Though I didnt notice that part at the time. My main concern was the local custom of people putting their nosecone into the lane of traffic when they were waiting to enter from a side street - it was a challenge to not shave their front bumper when the trailer rode past.:burnrubber:)

But using the ol' high-horse defense to justify overpaying? Sorry, I cant help him on that front.:bananadead::bananadead:

This thread was always already going to turn out this way. I think the OP should have called around to other local dealers if he didn’t want a TW pre-Friday thread, but he didn’t and decided to test his luck here, so here we are. I’m just trying to figure out a way to shoehorn my typical MPG talking points in....

There's a lot of that going on in this thread.

And yeah, you got the worst of LA traffic if you made the drive from Malibu to Van Nuys, lol. The west side (Malibu area) might as well be a different state as far as I'm concerned living inland...I rarely ever head over that way because of the traffic nightmare. If we want to go to the ocean we head north out of LA and then cut over to the coast, twice the ground to cover but it's often faster than going through LA/west LA.

$545.00 that's a lot since all they did was change the pads and turn your rotors. You can do that yourself for $100 including new factory Toyota pads.

Holy shit, 18 pages in a day. Welp, since the OP mentioned Hollywood, I'll reply.

Toyota of Northridge wants a little less than $300 for changing the brake pads (I think they attribute $80 to "parts"). I know this since they just tried to sell it to me a couple days ago.

Don't know what constitutes your brake job, but you'll probably get a better price outside of the dealer.

Some jobs pay well not really that surprising. Shit my cousin makes more than some people make in a day just for stepping on a site.
The whole point of this thread got lost like 16 pages back.

$180 my local mechanic front pads/resurface rotors. Parts are cheap but it maybe time consuming if you don't have tools. Pay for convenience time is money!
