Toyota has put the new Landcruiser on there website and you can build and price one now, I have a 4R TRD ORP W/KDSS and was thinking Tacoma until I saw the new Landcruiser. Only problem is dealers are marking the first ones up, just saw one with $15K dealer markup added to sticker price. YIKES !!!

Seems to me you have a very solid truck loaded with options, that I’m guessing you paid well under $50k for. I’d ride that sweet 1GR horse off into the sunset. Or at least until Toyota comes to their senses with prices, whichever comes first.

With the adjustments Toyota dealers are guaranteed to add on, you might as well get a GX. I feel like the typical Lexus buyer won't put up with silly markups.

The GX starts at $65k and would be a better vehicle in pretty much every single aspect.

The GX is a bigger vehicle in every dimension than the LC. Depending on an individuals use case, this could be good or bad. Additionally, the GX twin turbo V6 outputs a bit more, but gets 17 MPG combined.

For me, the LC is flat out better in every aspect unless you want a bigger vehicle.

Not true. The GX is a few inches longer but the LC is a bit taller and wider (incl mirrors). But the differences in dimension are minimal since they share platforms, and the body of the new LC and GX are almost identical.

There should be a “hybrid delete” option.

This is what happened when I was shopping for small SUV's a few months back. An on the lot Rav4 I wanted would have been 44k so I went over to the Lexus dealership and got an NX with everything I wanted and more for 50k (2.5 below MSRP).

For whatever reason Lexus doesn’t sell as well as Toyota and is not as in high demand. And this goes for cars that are almost mechanically identical, sometimes.

This new LC has me confused. It looks like a 70 series but definitely no where as beefy as the 70. Its not the 300 series LC. What the heck is this version of LC??

It seems very cheap and Toyota just slapped a LC badge on it..?

It almost looks like what Ford did with the Bronco. They have an off road version Bronco that is legit and then they have a Bronco for the rental car market that is basically a sedan in 31 inch tires...

Can someone explain this LC to me?

Bring the 70 series to the US! Too me the GX550 is more of a true LC than the Toyota LC that will be sold here.

This has been explained before. It is the Land Cruiser Prado, which is what is sold in place of the 4runner in many foreign markets. There’s also the Toyota Fortuner, but let’s not go too off-topic.

The thing that makes the Prado unique is that it’s design philosophy is all over the place with all three generations looking vastly different.

The first generation looks like a bastard child of the 60 and 70 series, the second generation was here as the Lexus GX, and now the third generation exists as the “new” US Land Cruiser and Lexus GX twins. The internal code for this is the 250 series Land Cruiser.

The 300 series Land Cruiser, which is a follow up of the 200 series, is now only available in the US as the Lexus LX, but is still available in foreign markets as a Land Cruiser.

And if that’s not confusing enough, we have YouTube morons pretending the Sequoia is the new American Land Cruiser (it’s not), and we have a new 4Runner coming.

The 70 series supposedly can’t get past US safety regulations, but the Australian mining corporations got Toyota the finally put airbags in it so I call bullshit, especially when Mercedes can put airbags in the G wagen, which was a 50 year old design up until recently.

    Conflicting dimensions:

    '24 LC (non official motortrend)
    Dimensions: 193.7x84.2x73.2
    Angles: 31° / 22° / 25°

    '24 GX (OT official)
    Dimensions: 197.0 x83.2x76.2
    Angles: 26° / 24° / 22°

But I do agree, very minimal diff in terms of overall dimensions.

Also based on the testimony of some YouTubers, the GX felt "more refined", quiet, solid, etc. versus the LC. But I am sure the Lexus version has a few more things in it to combat NVH.

The new gen 4R camouflaged protoypes are being spotted in the wild. It seems like you aren't really needing a truck if you are considering these other options. Can you wait a few months for the rollout of the new 4R? You are going to get all the sweet stuff the Taco has in a more nimble body.

Yes, but those sound like words directly taken from a press release. The Lexus is supposed to be quiet and refined, it’s almost like they are reading from a script that Toyota gave them.

Pretty much this. Which then comes down to styling preference and motor option.

    iForce Max (LC):
    326 hp/465 lb-ft
    ~23 combined MPG

    V6 TT (GX):
    349 hp/ 479 lb-ft
    ~17 combined MPG

Yeah the 70 series if sold in the US with proper engine I would buy immediately. The new 70 series with the new 2.8 diesel is getting very good reviews in the Aussie world.

So the Toyota LC has a towing capacity as 6,000 lbs and the Lexus GX550 has 8,000 lbs. Guess this hybrid powertrain cant handle the towing...

Lexus GX550 all day for me.

It's the same dimensions almost exact as the 80 series. It's a full size 5 seater SUV and will be just as capable off road as any Land Cruiser made.

Different engines so different towing capacities.
