I'd see right through that. There's no way a Honda push mower broke :)

As long as the husband remains deployed, I think it’ll be fine.

No way in hell I would ever pay that much for a Tacoma ..that kind of money I can get something better than a 4 banger with a turbo . Nothing special about this truck . It’s a truck not a luxury car .

It’s really a matter of value instead of affordability.

A whole lot of people (current owners) who can afford it will still decide it’s not worth buying at the price.

And of course plenty who technically can’t afford it will still run out and buy it anyway….

We had to wait 6 months for our 22 4R Pro to get build, GX550 has a waiting list anywhere from 6-8 months to 2 years!! (in Canada) GR Corolla has a long waiting list. I bet the new TRD Pro will 6 months minimum if I were to walk into a dealer right now to order one.

Once again I'm not arguing availability that's a different discussion. My point is on PAPER, for 60k there are much better bang for your buck, now can you actually walk in to a dealer and get it is a whole different issue. For 2023 MY yes you can get a nicely equipped OR for under 50K. But for 2024 my definition of nicely equipped OR is well over 50k. Even you say well just get the most basic features, its still too expensive for being basic. For mid 40s you should be getting a nice infotainment and at least heated seats and steering wheel. Its the principle of the matter, my old 16 GX460 should not have better amenities than a 2024 50k Toyota product.

I'm just fired up seeing 24 different packages available for the OR, starting from 1K all the way up to 9k! And they're extremely predatory, I don't even know what the right word is. You want heated seats well that'll be in the 2k package, cool. Oh you want your OR to have this new Stabilization bar disconnect feature, awesome, that'll be inside the 3.5k package, but you lose the heated seats!! Oh you want the heated seats back, well they're back in this 5k package with this nice infotainment screen, but you back to losing the Stabi bar disconnect. Well finally for a mere 7K package you can have heated seats and stabi bar disconnect, but you lose crawl control, sorry, thats in the next package. Lol what's the most expensive you can option a truck and still not have heated seats or stabi bar, something like almost 6k on top of your base price!

Literally every other manufacturer includes all the features of a cheaper package into a more expensive one. The GX550 Overtrail Plus has ALL the features of a regular Overall and adds extra stuff on top.

    My thoughts exactly.

I will add: It’s a “luxury” car but with pretty cramped rear back seats. Front seat is like halfway back in the pic.

I think you have your numbers a bit wrong. That exact OR is $45.8k, even less if you go manual. Heated seats are $585 alone or when added to any package. All the other numbers are wrong as well.

But I think I understand what you're saying. I would love it if more options came at an individual level. Even better would be to let me just build what I want, but Toyota sucks ass.

The 4th gen is expensive, yes. But so is everything, groceries up $200 a month, my house value went up $180,000 in 1 year, no renovations done at all. For those that rent it has gone up to unaffordable rates.
All new cars are overpriced, not just the Tacoma. Look at the prices of used, here in Canada a 2020 Tacoma is going for $40k and they sell as fast as they go up for sale. Dealer offered me $24k for my 2009 Tacoma Sport with 168,000 kms, crazy, that was close to new price. And no, not parting with my 2nd gen but was tempting.

Fwiw, not trying to start a fight, but the relative position of the seat to the b pillar is different now. The chief engineer mentioned this in early vids. They moved the b pillar back to give more front seat access, so you can’t go by relative position to compare 3g and 4g trucks by eye alone

I stand corrected on the crawl control, which is good news, I would rather be wrong on all this stuff. Have you tried the builder on the Toyota main site? You cannot select multiple packages at once, you can only select one at a time. Every time you select one, it deselects the other. Package 11 (OR Package) is almost a 5k add on, it doesn't mention heated seats, maybe they're included in the better seats you get with this package, but you don't get the 14in screen or stabi bar, to add them on you gotta pick a more expensive package. If OR by default has heated seats, I stand partially corrected and little less angry.

But wait Package 22 is the OR Premium package, its 8k!! Yet that still doesn't include the stupid stabi bars disconnect. Still at 8k, you gotta pay extra. And 8k doesn't justify ventilated seats, the crappy JBL system and 14in screen.

So how does it make sense to pay 6k over the base price I get a stabi bar disconnect, but when you pull up in you truck paying 8k over the base you still have a blank button in your interior, having less off road features than my truck?

Thats great news, I'd rather be surprised, I want market to stabilize and dealers have not just base but specialty trims on the lot, and the customer to have the power to negotiate below MSRP. Its ridiculous seeing mark ups at Toyota selling family vehicles, I get it when specialty models get a mark up.

I’m just a poor teacher, no way can I afford a 60k truck. I’m looking at SR’s but the expensive packages and distributor fluff kind of kill the value for me. Going to have to find a rare one with only mudflaps or something, lol. It’s a bummer because as more videos pop up with it, the 4g is growing on me. I think it will be a good truck.
