I feel for you rust belt guys.
Used Tacoma prices out here in the west drove me into a new one.
Spending 60k out the door on a new one with warranty sounded better than some 3 year old 3rd gen for $40-50k with 30kmiles.

witnessed two repos last week, front window at work looks right at a neighborhood. They drag them out quick, and pull behind our clinic to secure them better. They basically come out looking like the car is about to be dropped, it’s sketchy. People are not as well off as the news would have you believe.

Dealership close to me is listing them with a $9,995 markup while in allocation status and then dropping it to a $5,995 markup when they hit the lot. I think they are scaring away potential costumers as there are enough dealers near by that are selling them at MSRP. I think we should boycott these dealers for everything including parts and the "free" two year service.

All these 'beefed' up components but the payload capacity is pathetic.

Toyota's engineers has always said they are willing to concede things to others. Payload and towing is not high on their list. This is not hard. They say it all the time. Why do people expect different? If that is what you want they are telling you to go buy the other thing.

Why did you buy a truck with even less than pathetic payload?

Just be thankful all that money printed that led to a $60k Tacoma is going to fight proxy wars in nations halfway across the world!

I bought my truck used and got a amazing deal that I can sell for more today than what I purchased it 5 years ago.

Paying $60k for a pickup truck you become more picky as a buyer (at least I am). I could care less about a 15 inch screen which most buyers want in the U.S.. I want the truck to more of a truck and Toyota can keep their big screens.

So, you bought a truck that meets your needs with less than pathetic payload?

I mean for $60K I would just get a Tundra Limited.

Sure but you don’t get $60k Tacomas without including all the taxes and fees so you’re actually looking at a $67k tundra

Nope the price would be the same based on what the OP listed. $59,764 for the Tacoma and the Tundra is $59,619, the Tundra Limited is actually cheaper than the Tacoma off road. Taxes and fee would be about equal.

Just give up already on the “but what ifs”. I’m sure someone could find a Tundra with even more discounts too.

50-60k Tacomas are a hard pill to swallow, add taxes and APR rates…..with given upgrades on chassis…rear suspension.disc brakes etc…me personally I would wait till the water settles, some those features will be standard at a decent price point with future models. Finance rates are out of control right now, I would steer away just for that reason alone

Even if you factor in inflation and the American dollar becoming worthless, vehicle prices have shot up since the pandemic, dealers are much less willing to deal, and APR is just stupid high.

Is the average American still buying cars at these prices?
