I got a full quote for 60k service at the largest dealer in Texas and they quoted me $880. That was also with the transmission flush added. So spark plugs, oil change, oil filter, front/rear diff fluid and transfer case fluid along with regular inspection and driveshaft greasing.

I had them do the transmission fluid for $300 and did the rest myself for $224. I used Mobil 1 full synthetic.

Side note, I went from 17mpg to 21mpg (best ever in truck).

For the amount of money you’re saving doing it yourself, you could buy a pop up tent to cover the truck and keep you out of the rain.

Wow, I spend that kind of money on my Harley. I can’t do it on my Taco too!! Thank you man. I will be doing the majority myself.

Of course. Tons of DIY tutorials out there for this truck. Plus it’s super simple. Toyota made this truck a joy to work on.

Spark plugs are easy on this truck. My wife went to the grocery store the same time I started and I almost beat her getting done before she got home. I dropped a bolt in the engine bay and had to find it.

Side note, I cannot comprehend Harley maintenance. I was a Kawasaki guy (ninja650) and it just kept running, I also want to say the service intervals were like three times longer than the Harley’s.

My buddy sold his Ninja and picked up an 883 and he was always saying “it’s at the shop”. Yeesh.

Thanks again man. I’ve been watching the YouTube videos. I’m not a great mechanic so I watch the videos over and over until I feel comfortable to tackle it.
I have a 2017 Harley Road Glide. They’ve come a long way with the mechanics. I change the fluids every 5K and I can do brakes, but anything more than that I take it to the shop.
This is my second Harley. I had 3 Jap bikes prior that were tanks. I’ve wanted a Harley all my life and finally got one at 50.

The bitch with my Road Glide is there’s 3 spark plugs out in the open and one under the gas tank. Always something lol

Yeah man same thing here. I Watch 2-3 different videos from different people, look for DIY threads on here and just go step by step. If you can do your own brakes on a bike you can do your own maintenance on this truck.

Congrats on the Harley. I always wanted a Honda’s Goldwing as a young man. Just thought it would have been cool since lots of older guys drool over that bike.

Thanks man. Gold Wings are state of the art, but I’ve been obsessed with Harley since I was 14. I rode with a group of GW riders. Beautiful bikes with ALL the bells and whistles.

Funny how Toyota "free" services stop at 25K.

Expensive oil change is all you got, unfortunately.

My dealership charges me just over $200 for my 60K mile service which includes the following.

    Oil/Filter change
    T-Case fluid replacement
Front & Rear Diff fluid replacement
    Spark Plugs
    Tire Rotation

I provide the engine oil (PP) and the gear oil (Lucas). I also do my own air filters as needed and grease my drive shafts as needed or every 5K miles.

They've always done a great job.

So I figure the oils cost you another $125 or so...just curious, did you ever get a quote from the dealer if they supplied everything? I’m surprised they let you bring your own fluids.

Don't recall the exact $$, but the oils were/are under $100. I didn't get that quote. They've always been good about letting me provide my own fluids during those major services. Way back in 2011, when getting my "complimentary" service, they let me provide my own engine oil.

Basically same as what my Dealer did for me other than a "26" point inspection for my 60,000 mile service. They had changed out the air and cabin filters at 55,000 mile service. Once I started doing my own servicing noticed not once did they ever lube my drive shaft assembly (5 zerk fittings) or torque propeller shaft in 6 years! So no telling what else they didn't inspect? Since I never towed or did off roading differentials or transmission/transfer case were not serviced until I did them @ 80,000 miles. All looked good thankfully.

That’s cool that you have a dealer that works with you like that, considering all the bad things people say about them in general. I avoid them when I can but obviously sometimes you need them.

Yah, considering some of the stories you hear...I've been pretty fortunate. But then again, the bad experiences get all the attention. I've had the same service advisor and same tech that works on my truck since day 1.

WoW, they must be a little more customer service oriented in Maine. Not in NJ. I'll look for another dealer and do as much as I can myself. Thank you for your reply.

right on here. You have a dealer that just doesnt give a crap of what you asked for or is dumb, even worse. On a side note, a price of $100 should have been the first sign. you got jipped for what you asked them to do, but they didnt take you to the cleaners, not like they said they did a 60 k and charged you for it. They charged for some gold infused oil.

well I knew going in that the Mobil 1 oil change was going to be $100.00, so thats on me. I wasn't complaining about the $100.00 oil change. I was complaining that I asked for 60K service and this is what they told me it was. I wrote a bad review of the service advisor when they sent me a survey. He called me and left a message, saying, "I'm sorry that you felt I gave you bad service, but your vehicle wasn't due for anything other than the 19 point inspection and an oil change." He obviously didn't know what he was doing.
You're right, they would have really hosed me if they said they did the 60K service and didn't then charged me for it.
