Opinions on one or the other. Will be pairing whichever setup with icon RXT leafs and archive u bolt flip bump stops. Posted this question in the tacomaworld Reddit but everyone just seems to want to show off new truck or post pics for likes.

Might be a big ask on opinions of the mt64 I don't think I have seen anyone with a set yet.
So that could be a gamble where as the 6112/5160 pairing is tried and true among many members. I would personally check out the Elka 2.5 set up aswell

As a general rule is it better to run a setup that is meant for 2-3” of lift or 0-2” for a 2” lift? Isn’t it best to not have to max it out but instead run its lowest setting?

If I recall right most of bilsteins set ups are already an "extended" travel. Not sure for ome, but I would just go to a 2-3 regardless, It adds about 1" of droop on most. If you havnt look up tinkerers adventure. He has a great series on toyotas ifs and pros and cons of many components with some great visuals to show what's going on. This includes one on extended travel shocks.

Ya he has great vids. I’ll try to look for one that breaks this down specifically. The MT64 I believe come in the two lift options.

im currently running 6112 as my setup with archive add a leaf and ubolt flip with perry parts front bump stops. the ride has been amazing but after I did did the ubolt flip and the upgraded add a leaf/ bump stops it made a world of difference. with the added weight I carry in my bed at all times. I really enjoy the Bilsteins, so much that I am considering going to the 8112 in the future with the remote resi adjusters. they have performed well on road and off road in rough conditions. mud, snow , dirt off camber travel etc. great budget option to get your neck in the gamewith suspension and you wont regret the choice. highly reccomend going with archive garage, I added their add a leaf option to a 2023 take off leaf pack from a new tacoma. works amazing truck stays level with no sag and perfroms effrotelssy offroad with the weight I run. hope this helps. :D

Good stuff. My local shop recommended the Archive leaf pack over all others in including Deaver.

yeah, I can't say enough good things about Archive. USA made and excellent customer service. I will be doing their full leaf pack and shackle hanger kit eventually. but for my needs atm , it was perfect and they have exceeded my expectations.

    I've had 6112/5160 for 25k miles. Wouldn't recommend for a daily driver.

Was looking at those. Why not for DD? Too rough?

I’m also curious to hear why? I’m kinda forced to go a different route now as the 6112’s I already had ordered are back ordered 6-8 weeks. So I think the MT64’s will be the route I go. Also curious about the archive leaf pack over the icon RXT I plan on running.

They are pretty rough over low speed things like road imperfections. I found that to get them to smooth out, I really have to go pretty fast, faster then im comfortable with a lot of the time. One example-they are very rough on a washboard road at 20 mph. They are pretty comfortable on a washboard road at 50 mph.

I just had my MT64s installed today and couldnt be happier with them. Obviously just a first impression still but very happy with on road comfort. Havent tried the 6112s but love my MT64s. just did an add a leaf in the back.

Agree with this. I’m not sure I’d go this route again for my purposes.
