lol I connected my stereo in but I had my amp and stereo connected, one of the wire that was on before was a defect, changed the wiring and it all worked out

 

Well besides that my radio works when it wants too, I'm now having issues with my amp. I just upgraded from 300wt to 600wt. It turns off n on. I'm thinking fuse?

yeah that happens lol auto correct its Jaime hahahahaaa, your truck is a 1st gen if its a 99-04, after a while the stereo on the first generation gives out it may be that it has a short or a blown fuse, and that happens when you connect sub's or an amp, it happened to mine but since I had bran new stereo for my dads ford, he didnt want it so I installed it on mine works fine now, better with the stock speakers to [/QUOTE]

Definitely not a fuse if it is intermittent. A fuse will blow out and has to be replaced. Explain more about what and when it is doing what it's doing.

Sounds more like a bad connection to the amp or possibly a bad ground.

 

Well There's multiple things going in. The first one is that the head unit turns off, but music still plays. I can't do anything when he screen goes out. Then there's the channels. Sometimes they're scratchy, sometimes they're perfect. I've noticed that certain channels work in certain areas compared to others. Then recently the amp. It turns off then on. Some days it will be good all day, the. There is a day like today where it just doesn't want to turn on. Would it be because the ground wire and one other one where to thick. So I capped off the ground wire n just put a hole in my frame to connect it. Then the other one I stripped n connected a smaller cord to it so it would fit. I'm not sure what it could be

First off, the Amp: So you cut the ground wire and positive wire, then attached a smaller gauge wire to each of those and connected them to the amp? Were the terminals on the amp too small to accommodate the thicker gauge wire? Also, do you have an inline fuse on the positive wire coming from the battery? Also, if you connected your ground to a new or existing hole in your frame you first needed to take a grinder to the surface of the frame to expose the bare metal.

Close. I did that to the positive wire. The ground one I just capped off and connected another one to the spot. Yeah I did grind it down a little ^_^ it was all working fine for a couple of days, then bam! My fried just mentioned over heating. I think it could be a possibility. Ill check that out in a little
