    ^^^this.

And Gregorio, I did much research into that topic a little while back, and came to the conclusion that if I was to do the tablet mod, I would do the iPad, and buy a Bad Elf GPS for it. It was highly recommended by some guys on Pirate, because of how easy it is to use. Just plug it in, and all the apps that use the GPS function will work regardless of cellular service. So basically, as long as you're not in a tunnel or a 10 story parking structure, you'll be connected. Price really ain't bad either, and there's no subscription bullshit. Just plug and play. I'm going to do it soon, just need to muster up the courage to start the project.

Still haven't narrowed down my favorite GPS app though. There's so many of them out there.

Bad elf is good provided you don't want to incorporate the iPad into your dash. It has to be hooked directly to the iPad and will get in the way. I went with the Dual XGPS150. It does the same thing but works over bluetooth. You can set it on your dash for a reliable signal it also has a rechargeable battery with 8 hours of life or can be plugged into a USB port for charging. It also costs less than the bad elf. It will also work with android with a flip of a switch. Here's mine.
