    ^^Make 'em paaaay!!!!

Sooooooo, axle wrap. How have ya'll fixed it if you've dealt with it? Videos and threads suggest a few things, but I'll start with tightening u-bolts. Everything was greased recently. Also am going to GoPro underneath tomorrow to see if it actually IS wrap.

    Sure it's axle wrap?

Could be just the carrier bearing all loosey goosey and wandering everywhere such as mine did prior to it totally failing and grenading on me

    Done! Looks exciting!
Naw, not sure it's axle wrap. I need to film underneath tomorrow, but all videos and threads seem to point the "clunk" in that direction. I went under with a mallet the other day and nothing clunked. Figured I'd start with tightening things. Sounds like you replaced the carrier bearing, but would you have simply tightened it had you caught it earlier?

There is no adjustment on that sucker ...
Eventually the rubber doughnut thingy separates from the actual bearing. Nothing you can do. And since the ujoint needs to be removed to gain access to the flange nut might as replace the ujoint(s) since it's a part anyways

I posted this in another thread earlier. Keep note that this has been ongoing for well over a year. I have done a balance and rotate dozens of times. Sometimes but not always that fixes it but within a few weeks itll start again. I believe it is wheel or tie related but have no evidence to support that other than the fact it started right when git these tires almost 2 years ago. I'm lost because it's never the same from day to day.

Are you wheels hub centric? Meaning they sit flush over the hub?
That will cause a shake at random times...

I dont beleive so.... but there is so little room between the center of the wheel and the hub that the center caps dont even fit so there is no way i would be able to fit a hub centric adapter. Not sure how to fix that if thats the issue. Other people run the ATX teflon rims with no problems. But im sure they are lug centric

So my rims are 108mm bore and i believe our truck is a 106mm bore. That is a 2mm difference which i dont see being a big deal in terms of hib centric but i could be wrong. Its already a pretty tight fit

I found 108.0 to 106.0 hub centric adapters online. They vary from $10-50 and are made of various different materials. Hopefully someone can shed some insight on this for me because its certainly not a topic im familiar with. Thanks

I used to have those. They are plastic but they get the job done.

As for the vibrations, there's a few things it can be. I know when I replaced all 3 of my U-joints, it made a huge difference and got rid of my vibrations. It could also be the carrier bearing starting to go out. It's a structural piece that keeps the driveshaft from bending at the u joints and flapping around so that would surely cause a vibe. Could also be the wheels as Rodger stated. Have you gotten them balanced recently, you never know if a wheelweight could have possibly come off.

Yeah i get them balanced nearly once a month in hopes of solving this. Ill inspect the CB to see if i can find any signs of wear. Anything in particular i should look for down there to know if it may need to be replaced?
how much were the u joints and a new CB and where can i find them?

This crossed my mind too. But i keep thinking that since the vibe is not consitant then this wouldnt make sense. But i could be wrong. Does a wheel just require visual inspection or does a shop need to test it for abnormalities?

Definitive on axle wrap. :( Looks like Bud Built has a traction bar for almost $500, but will that also hamper offroading clearance? Leaf spring helpers at Autozone seem like a cheap alternative. Seems these Dakars don't do shit, which would explain why they seem flat with only a spare tire and two tubs of gear in the bed. Still haven't isolated the "clunk", but will take more video soon.

Tom, that rubber thingy seems alright on mine. No cracks or anything similar. Where'd you get u-joints and another CB?
