    So how much do you guys think the Tacoma 4x4 is capable stock? I want to mod out but I have the dilemma of trying to put every pay check towards paying it off and then modding it, or pay mainly minimums and try and start modding out. I could see myself doing small almost nothing mods to it before i pay it off and stay on the pay it off route. Such as muffler, high flow air filter and little b.s. like that. What is your guys opinion?

    I've heard stories of knowledgeable drivers wheeling harder and getting further in a stock vehicle than gnarly modded out vehicles with an inexperienced driver behind the wheel.

    Hahahah this is the advice I was looking for... I really want to mod it for wheeling. After getting on here ,and seeing everybody's builds/mods I just want to be one of the cool kids. lol. I know that making paying it off so that it is mine would feel better then losing it modded out.

    dude, look at me, 2 years now and all I've done is put used 5100's all around, used UCAs, and a bunch of electrical mods...not that I'm saying I'm one of the cool kids...far from it, in fact, but like Rock Lobster said, it's not a race. and as you pointed out, keeping an ok truck is better than losing a dope truck.

    If you want to be doing more rock crawling than pre-runner go fast shit, I'd start with tires, armor and recovery gear. Tires because duh, and armor because nothing ruins your weekend like thinking about all the body work you now have to do because you didn't have armor.
