Yep, I use to use the same term during Navy career... Now that I am retired and self employed I tend to forget that sometimes...good reminder!

This looks way cool! Can you share where this crab flats and these fire roads are for the uninformed amongst us? Like me!

 

Says at the top. Haha just type in crab flats rd and it will show up on Google maps. Then you'll see other signs along the road. Crab flats turns into 3N16. 2N54 is along the way and you'll see it while going through 3N16. You'll be able to go through 2N54 but like 3-5 miles in the snow is too deep and you'll have to turn around.

I'm going snowboarding tomorrow and then I'm gonna go cruise around on these roads for like an hour or two. Any suggestions on which trails to go on to best spend my short amount of time?

 

Just had my friend who's a mechanic look at my truck and he says to replace my belt and two idlers and tensioner. He said to check out rockauto cause they have good prices so I'm gonna shop around for that stuff. Anyone know who manufactures toyotas parts?

So it seems you where right about the wheels. They are available for purchase from many retailers.
When i got my TX new you could not buy the same wheels.

 

No problem. It's a road. Go up the 330 and it's right before green valley lake.

3N16 you can go in and there's spots to turn around if you'd like.

 

Anyone who's changed out their pulleys use the GATES Accessory Belt Drive Kit? Thinking about getting it for my truck

 

Thanks from what I see on Google earth I take the 18 to Grean Valley lake road left turn to Crab Flats road left turn as far as I can go then turn around and come backout also looks like several other fire roads to play on as well. Am I in the right spot or are you going in else where? Thanks again! Will stock TRD Sport 4X4 handle this are in the snow?

 

It's all good I had heard that was the case in the past. I am waiting for a set of take offs or a deal like that...

 

does the kit come with the pulleys and belt? can post the link? as far as changing the belt, it's easy. easy enough that jasmine was able to swap out ours by herself in under an hour. the pulleys were fine so we left em alone. but now that im a thousand mile from hitting 100k it would be a good idea to replace them as a preventive measure.

its not hard at all, may be a littile time consuming if you have never replaced a serpintine belt in the past. just make sure you have a clear diagram of how the belt is routed. and make sure that the grooves on the belt fit on the grooves on the pulleys as they should. if not, the belt will most likely jump off as soon as the motor is cranked over the first time. easy access to the pulleys from the bottom driver side if the skid plate is removed.

 

Ya I'm sure I can figure it out especially with YouTube now adays. But I'd imagine the belt should work considering it's a kit. But if I have any questions I'll be sure to ask. Thank you sir

 

Correct. 3n16 has been plowed so youre fine. Lots of snow on the sides tho.
