where did you get your from?

 

Yea what are the signs to look for if they are the real deal or not?

 

better than your yaseu? how many watts is it?

 

im not sure but i would avoid the shipping from china. first they always have knockoffs and be prepared for shipping to be 25+ days.

 

oops. talking about his yaseu. he said his handhelds might be better than his truck mounted ham radio.

 

he said base. not handheld yaseu

 

yea. thats what i was thinking. thats why i am asking. I want to get a yaseu ft 1900 one day.

 

detachable would be nice but those are more expensive. I would just run it on the left side of that. I had my cb on the right side and that thing was big and never had a problem with it had it over a year.

 

I've been running this radio for the last 4 years. It's awesome. I've had it out 50+ miles. On top idyllwild I talked to a guy in San dimas at 5watts. Wish I could find a headset for it.

 

Ok so i probably exaggerated a bit when i said they are better than my yeasu base lol. I have the ft7900r with detachable face and its an awesome little radio. I just think that for the type of use that most of us will put on these radios, there isnt a need for a $600 base unti like that. The habdlhelds are dual watch like the yeasu 8900 which is their highest model. You can monitor 2 channels on different bands at the same time. No need to mod it, and the frequency range is wider than most single band base units that are popular. Yes its only 5 watts but it does the job. With a $15 antenna upgrade itll be great and its still cheaper than a CB

 

Can you run the rugged headset to the baofangs?

 

Unless you plan on listening and communicating through repeaters and make this a serious hobby then the handheld is plenty. Although it is capable enough to still run some advanced options if you do want to explore the amateur radio world as well. I just cant see why anyone who offroads wouldnt get one for only 35 each

 

Yah the detachable is cool. Even though i have it i still mounted mine like yours is. Idk why lol. So many options now but i still didnt get creative with it

 

Do you guys now if Boafang radios and the rugged hand helds have interchangeable components? The radios look the same

When I do get a in cab ham. It will be that one.

Too much for how much I would actually use it. Ft 1900 $130 after rebate. I like using the handhelds for spotting.

 

My in-cab Yaesu can talk with my Motorola walkabouts. Had to do a little sercixe to get it like that, but it works!
