I wanna take my truck offroad for the first time, any recommendations? Is Whittier Narrows or the Azusa OHV any good? I have a kit to refill my tires(never used it) but I don't really know anything about offroading. I have Michelin LTX AT tires so it shouldn't be too bad offroad.

Wanna make sure my 4x4 works and also just see what it's all about

Go to azusa and enjoy the 8 dollar show. Bring a bbq and lawn chairs.

 

Yeah, I have used the 4x4 just to make sure it works per the advice of my mechanic but not 4x4ing.

Cool, lol. Do I need to air down/air up? Are people pretty helpful there if I get stuck or something?

Can I go on a weekday? My schedule is all over the place so might just hit it on a weekday if I have time. Just need an adventure pass right? I have the brown one I use for hiking

 

I would Air down just to give you a better ride on the rock/ dirt. 50/50 whether people will help. I am not sure if they are open during the week or not. The best time to go is either Saturday or Sunday. You would have to call the azusa if the adventure pass work not sure.

 

Right now azusa is reservation only on the weekends. There’s an entrance fee to get into it, you don’t need an adventure pass

What PSI should I air down to? Should I just take off like 5 psi or all the way down to like 20?

 

i would go down to like 15 to 20. Make sure you have air compressor to air back up.

Usually a good beginner place to off road is cleghorn or Hungry valley state.

 

Would that be better than Azusa? I figured since it's an OHV area more people will be there in case something goes wrong. It's more for like just driving in dry river beds(or rivers when raining) or mudding right? I've heard it's more like a park instead of an 'offroad trail' but haven't been to either so no idea lol

 

it just depends on which type off roading you like to do. Yes azusa is like a big sand box with mud. People watch and for the most part people will help out.
