What better way to celebrate St. Paddy's weekend than to wheel in the desert, watch a race, and drink in the mountains?

    The plan:
We meet up in Barstow Saturday Morning (March 17) and make our way to Slash X to watch the race, eat and chill. We then start our journey from Slash X to Lucerne without touching pavement (or as little as possible) and have fun there away from the race. As the day progresses, we will make our way towards Big Bear and navigate ourselves up the mountain while only staying on dirt. By nightfall, we will retire to Hiatt's cabin in Green Valley Lake and celebrate this marvelous holiday.

I have mapped out a lot of the trails in Lucerne and some in Barstow. Since there will be a race in Barstow, I will wait for the race GPS to come out to determine the final routes to avoid getting in the way. We are also pre-running some of the trails this weekend to determine difficulty for less built trucks.

Here is the map so far, it will be updated and refined as we get closer to the day:

    The Cabin:
The cabin is owned by Hiatt and his family. It is their own personal property and space is limited. Everyone is welcome to stay at his cabin, but I would recommend meeting him in person first at one of our 626/909 meets and getting to know him. Only he decides how much space he has for this meet.

We will leave the cabin cleaner than how we found it. For those that do stay at the cabin overnight, there will be a list of groceries and items that we will need to delegate to everyone to bring so we keep the cabin well in stock for Hiatt's family.

    Rules for the cabin include:
    - no drugs
    - no sexy time under Hiatt's nice sheets
    - Cigarettes are fine but must not be used in-doors

Many of us that are staying at the cabin plan to head up there Friday night to have everything dropped off there, then head to Barstow Saturday morning bright and early. We don't want to be waiting around at the cabin all morning for people to arrive, then heading to Barstow and get there late. Thus....

There will be two groups heading to Barstow Saturday Morning:
Group 1: Meet at 9:00 AM at the McDonalds off I-15 and the 138:
    3230 Wagon Train Road
    Phelan, CA 92371

Group 2: Leave Hiatt's cabin together and meet Group 1 at McDonalds

Both Groups: Leave McDonald's together and caravan to Barstow at 9:15 AM

    The Trails:
Since the plan is to stay almost 100% on dirt, be sure you feel your truck is capable of handling some abuse. Recommended features are:
    - either 4x4 or 2x4 with good suspension for going fast
    - CB or HAM radio (I have both so I can communicate with everyone)
    - Tow Strap and recovery points
    - Spare Gas Jugs with Gas (this will be a 100+ mile off road excursion)
    - Full Size Spare Tire

This will not be like Gorman where people can run off to different trails and meet back up at camp. If you deviate from the group and you dont have GPS, you will most likely get lost. This is a HUGE desert. Please stick with the group and we will take care of you. As we approach the date of the meet, I will release the final GPS file to everyone.

    Food:
We will plan on eating at Slash X for lunch, but chances are they may be really full. I would suggest bringing simple food such as sandwiches and things of the sort. BRING LOTS OF WATER!!!!! Those that wish to stay at the cabin should bring their fair share of alcohol. We will all share.

The List (your name and what you will bring):
    1. Blackhawke88 (hamburger meat, beer and Hard-A)
    2. Jlvhrse
    3. Hiatt
    4. Jerez (needa get a full size spare :spy:)
