im looking at getting a fabtech 6 inch suspension lift for my 2007 toyota tacoma, but ive heard that it can really mess up your tansmission unless you regear. has anyone heard of this also im concered about the possiblity of axel wrap is this a realistic concern? i already have a 3 inch lift on it but i do alot of off roading nothing crazy but i feel like my truck would perform better with a higher lift. can anybody help me here?

Welcome to the board-Seems to me that a 6 inch lift is a big investment and can need a lot of extra work to maintain and set up right for a moderate gain but it is doable.

Folks will be along who have done it....soak up what the say!!

I had a rancho lift on my 05 f150. You will have less problems with a true lift over spacers. I had 35s on my f150 without regearing and I could really tell the loss of power. I had the 5.4 v8 too if you do the lift right and don't get too greedy with the tire, you will be fine. Toyota trucks don't like to stay aligned and large tires will magnify that. I decided against lifting the Tacoma.

    uhh...everything? lol
i dont know who started the online fad about drop brackets being bad, but they arent. There is nothing wrong with the fabtech kit. There is a LITTLE truth to that statement about the regearing and transmission but that has nothing to do with the lift kit. When you run bigger tires, you should regear. thats just part of it. You dont have to with 35s, infact most people dont, but its well worth it in my opinion. That being said, your transmission is NOT going to blow up because of the 35s..... As for axle wrap, i wouldnt worry about that. It will be increased most likely, but it not a big deal or worth worrying about. I have never broken anything, and i have launched hard and power shifted 2nd many times with the s/c, 5.29s, and 37s on the street just powering through the wheel hop.

4.56s and 35s is a good choice for a daily driver

i heard that if you regear it, that it will void the warranty on the differential you might want to check with your dealer see what they say or maybe just have the dealership regear it for you. you might pay more money by having them do it but at least its under warranty
