I am hoping to get confirmation for something I most likely already know, but just would like a small dose of sanity.

New truck, 6MT. I was reversing up my driveway trying to position the truck up against a wall. Since I was stopping and starting I was balancing the clutch/gas. I bogged it once or twice such that I could hear the RPM drop and then went to put it into neutral to shut it down and noticed the oil pressure warning on the center display.

I immediately killed the truck. Upon restart I heard a small clunk but the truck ran fine with no warning lights or indication of any issues from the motor. I decided to replicate the scenario by letting the truck actually stall out and I got the same oil pressure warning light and same clank on startup, which I assume was just because everything had bucked during the stall out.

I'm chalking it up to the RPM level being so low (I didn't see the tach on the initial time) as it nearly stalled that it momentary cut in/out and tripped the sensor. The truck behaves fine and the oil level is fine.

I don't think this is a 2016 specific issue, I'm assuming it to be driver error.

Your assumption is correct, letting it stall dropped oil pressure causing the indicator light. What do you think drives the oil pump to maintain pressure?

    Herniator and damnfingers like this.

Fair enough. Never triggered one on previous vehicles. Thanks!
