yeah get rid of the accumulator, no questions about that.

be sure you have either the latest TSB for your ECU or OV tune. many trucks have tune issues particularly between 1st & 2nd and both OV & the TSB fixes it. just repeating what's been said here.

I have had that on a couple MTs. Redline MT90 will fix that. Folks also really like a certain Ford / Motocraft fluid.

Great info, thanks. I am picking up a used 17 sport Friday mt6 speed. After test driving 3 different trd off roads and having 3 different clutch experiences this might be why. I have a 2003 4 banger 2wd 5spd@134,000 miles. Had her since 2004.

    Troll away. :D

Everyone can get what they like. The MT is effortless in traffic with a couple nearly free and easy mods as folks have noted.

This. Of all the trucks, including a gen2 Mt, it's one of the best clutches I've had

I only press the pedal down maybe 1/2 way, if that. Shifts fine for me.

*Please note that my previous MT experience is in a 68 VW Bug and an 09 Tacoma, so I may not actually know what "smooth shifting" really is... But again, my 19 has been a pleasure so far.

True! The TSB tune fixed a lot but OVT's 1.05 really upped the ante on both sides. GL is a killer option for you guys.

One felt good the second was a stronger release, wanted to put my knee into the windshield, and the third stunk of clutch after driving it. The third also went bucking bronco on me from 1st to 2nd twice. I drove 2 from the same dealership that were fine. Strange. Anyway I put a deposit on a 2017 6spd manual v6 sport today. I pick her up Friday.

It's not you, it's the truck. Between the accumulator, pedal delay and lack of low end grunt, you'll get lurching and bogging at low speeds.

It's at it's worse for me when I switch over trucks. My 1st gen has a very quick pedal response and linear clutch, so I'm used to engaging it pretty quick without hardly feathering. I try to do that with my 3rd gen and it just falls on its face.

Only issue I have is starting on a hill with 285s and armor. The lack of low end power really shines in those instances, so I’m saving pennies for gears. Not an issue with the clutch.

I have an ADM.. gonna install it when I change my fluid this week.

My only major complaint (well, that can't be solved by a supercharger, anyway :p) is the inconsistency in the clutch engagement, so I finally got around to ordering an accumulator delete kit.

I don't have to mess with many hills but I actually thought the issue got better with larger tires. Since I have to throw more rpms to get the 33's turning, I usually am sitting in a better torque range for low speed maneuvers.

Reverse is my only complaint. I've never smoked a clutch until I was in this in reverse. Has no meat to get up a hill

    Moving.. no issue.

Dead stop on a steep hill (constantly)? I do a lot of rolling stops in first.

One thing I've been doing is slowly shifting from 1st to 2nd and haven't had an issue since. Can't drive it like my brother's Hellcat.

Yep, Toyota engineers thought we needed to be able to go 50 in reverse for some strange reason.

    There's a fix for that.
