It is not hard. Just do the upper fitting first.

If bleeding properly, you're clutch will stay on the floor. Manually lifting it up and pumping a few time will get all the pressure back, unless you got air in there.

Oh it doesn’t look too bad, just read all the horror stories of folks filling their system up with air.

I have heard of only two? I have screwed it up myself with our old volvo and my bike. That is the source of my advice on how to prevent it.

With the clamp that I used, it allowed a very slow drip while I worked. I was messing around for a couple hours and encountered no problems.

You're gonna be in there a fraction of that time.

Haven’t got a clamp yet either. I got all my skids off to grease the driveshafts only to find out the coupler is too damn big. Gonna change my fluids instead and do the ADM another day.

OP - I’ll inevitably mess it it up on my truck so it’ll be easy on yours if you need help. I learn the hard way.

AP2s yeah. MY 00 AP1 owner, clutch had no CDV and it grabbed with its crazy strong pedal spring. It was hard to modulate or feather but I could feel it contacting. My left calf is still bigger than the right, really.

When you guys were saying "getting air in the system" you meant while doing the ADM, not from just changing the transmission fluid. I had to re-read back in the thread to figure out what was going on if I just changed the transmission fluid I might get air in the system !! it had me baffled there for awhile.

Pulled a 5k boat this weekend too. I think it was fully loaded and had 7 people on it. So maybe 6k. But, loved how she performed up and down the ramp. Only had some slight traction issues but didn't have to 4lo it.

The clutch fluid is completely separate from the transmission lube. There can be no air in the clutch lines between the master and slave cylinders. The transmission is about half lube and half air.

All I did was gravity bleed mine and let it drip until no more bubbles... Just don't let the reservoir get empty and all will be well..

I just changed out my transmission fluid with Redline MT-90. Here’s what I didn’t know as I got everything ready to go to do this. I already had one of those cheap hand pumps that fits the Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube bottles and figured it would also fit these Redline bottles. It does not, the Redline bottles are a smaller diameter neck. I had to transfer the Redline fluid to a Mobil 1 bottle for this to happen today. Kinda of a pain in the ass but I wanted give everyone here a heads up on that. Have not driven my truck yet with the new Redline, I will post an update later if it made a noticible difference, hope it does.

The Redline MT-90 does make a difference in shifting now, smooth as butter it seems to be now.

I'm with Bad Kitty, my clutch and 6sp MT in my 2019 has been stellar. I had a 5sp MT in my 1st Gen and it was pretty nice too, even got better once I switched it to Redline syn oil.

I have no plans to mod my accumulator at the moment, just looking forward to even smoother shifting once I switch it over to Redline. Hell, even my wife has no trouble driving my Tacoma MT.

I've driven manuals most of my life from Peterbilts & Kenworths to Datsuns and Hiluxs.

I’m running RLMT90 with everything else stock, no delete. Works flawless.

Actually one thing, the clutch pedal started creaking a little. So I sprayed a few spots with disc brake lube, all is good.

Gentlemen, I will tell you that the accumulator allows unnecessary slippage on the clutch if you are running larger tires, towing a lot, or have a lot of added weight from armor and gear. I bought my 16 TRD OR 6MT on 8/12/16 and on 8/13/17 started my build. I ran 33’s with full armor for about 15k miles before I went to 35’s. I ran on 35’s for another 10k before I regeared to 4.88’s. At 43k I my throwout bearing took a shit so I replaced it myself and while I had the transmission out, I saw that the clutch plate was cooked. Do the mod and extend the life of your clutch.

50k miles in, only 2 years old, and my clutch feels like mush. Yea, I’ve burnt it a few times but nothing terrible.

Might be how I drive the truck too. I usually blip the gas in between shifts to keep the RPMS up and to keep the transition as smooth as possible.

If I had the extra money I’d probably replace the clutch now with a URD and heavier flywheel.

We shall see how much longer this clutch lasts .....

Just went to 4.88 in my 2007 6mt, feels awesome have all this power back after installing 35s, armor and extra weight in general. What is the CLUTCH MOD people are talking about?
