been having what feels like ocasional clutch drag. Stick sometimes feels like it needs extra effort to pull out of gear mostly 1st gear. Also been having more instances of 1st getting blocked and having to double clutch before it will go in gear. When shifting into 4th gear or 5th, the shifter gets “sucked” into the gate or it will go into the gate in “stages”. Truck has 40k miles now, looked for fluid leaks and the release bearing fork has grease on it where it meets the slave cylinder probe. Don’t see any leaks anywhere, not sure if the ambient temperature which has been hot could be affecting the operation of clutch hydraulic system. I’m thinking of replacing the trans oil, and clutch/brake fluid.

Also, may not be related, but about a month ago I got a random check ABS system light. That went away and never returned .

2017 truck, 45k miles. Any opinions?

Maybe check the clutch pedal push rod adjustment. There should only be the like a 1 mm gap. If there is too much play, your clutch may not be fully disengaging when depressed.

I put Motorcraft XT-M5-QS full synthetic manual transmission fluid in mine.
It meets the Toyota specifications: 75W-90, GL-4. The GL-4 is the important specification here.
    Best price was Rock Auto.

I'm not going to say there was a giant change from the factory fill, but the transmission did seem to be a bit "slicker" for lack of a better word. I really enjoy this transmission. :)

I ordered some more redline MT90 and will get the brake fluid/clutch changed. This generation of Tacoma shares the brake and clutch fluid.

Redline is high spec stuff! I used the 75W-85 in the differentials.

I changed all the drive line fluids this spring (24,000 miles) and I believe my mpg went up slightly, not a giant amount but a gain over last season. My truck doesn't go out in the winter.

Please be sure to let us know if you feel there is an improvement.

Was looking at the clutch pedal and noticed the push rod has some play in it and I can rotate it. Not sure if normal?
