I have a 2010 Tacoma with a failing TOB at only 61K. Not surprising, the corporate giant will do nothing to help. I see there are plenty of write ups on this problem and a few companies like URD make sleeves to repair the worn out aluminum input shaft. My question is this, has anyone had any luck machining out the shaft, making a stainless steel replacement that press fits into the bell housing directly like the factory part, so you never have to worry about the sleeve repair loosening up? IDK if this is a good idea or not, but I am looking for a used bell housing tomorrow to try this out on to see if it fabricates out well. Toyota should be ashamed for designing expensive parts this weak that aren't even serviceable.....
