Christmas light question - so one strand of my lights in my garland went out. I figured it was just a bad bulb. Upon closer inspection, every single bulb on the strand had a black burnt section in the glass. What would cause every single bulb to blow out? There has to be something up with that strand of lights. I hope i can find another strand to replace this, when i was at the store the other day, all of the Christmas stuff was starting to get marked down already lol.

Thanks! Probably gonna retire the old girl after this year because, as stated earlier, she's from 2008 and sheds artificial pine needles like a a real Christmas tree! Unfortunately, my dad doesn't want to pay overinflated prices for a fake Christmas tree; My dad paid like $150 for this tree back in 2008, so it has more than paid for itself. My dad was browsing new trees at Home Depot, and the price of the one he liked was over $400, even with his veteran's discount!

Not sure. But it sounds like some sort of short. Normally the lights have 2 small fuses in the plug to prevent damage in these cases. But it sounds like your lights may not have them.

Thats the strange thing, both little fuses are in there and both look to be good.

Wife and I got ours a few days after Christmas last year… retail was over $700!! That’s absolutely ridiculous, I agree. But we only paid like $90 for it. Trees are so large and bulky, even when boxed that the stores just want them gone so they discount them drastically. Cheaper just to sell at pennies on the dollar than ship them back, and then store them somewhere for a year, only just to ship them again next year… especially with the inflated shipping fees these days. But definitely go soon after Christmas because they sell quick at such low prices! Hope this helps and you and the family have a very Merry Christmas!

Well, either replace every bulb and see if it works or buy a new strand. That’s all I got for suggestions, Christmas lights can be frustrating

That's like my dad saving over $3,000 on the Yukon he bought in 2018 because he waited until after Thanksgiving to buy it!

Yup, i'm just buying another strand, assuming i can find another one right now. If all of them went at once, some bad juju in that light strand lol.

I actually had an electrical engineer at my work repair one of my sets; They've gone up like five bucks in just a few years and no Home Depot within fifty miles of me seems to have the specific battery-operated Christmas light sets I want. Also, after last weekend's epic failure of my truck's alternator from what I can only assume is old age and running a powerful aftermarket stereo, I do not want to push the envelope with the new alternator by plugging multiple light sets into the cigarette lighter!

This was my truck in my culdesac on December 16th, 2020; Exactly a year ago! Right now, it is over 60 degrees here in my neck of the woods. The weather is beautiful and I've been driving around with my windows down today, but I really hope we get snow before the end of the year so I can (A) get some "glamour shots" of my truck, and (B) use the new snowblower ASAP!

Actually, it was just a random truck we found at Targèt, lol! It just so happened to work well with the elf. Think it was like $20…
