Apples and oranges but people have gotten the 1.6T 3cyl in the GR Yaris up to 700whp on stock internals. Gives me a really good feeling about the 2.4T, I'm so psyched to see what people can do with it. Might end up being faster than stock ranger raptors.

I don't think it's the last Gen, They just made it easier to develop a new one....Develop next Gen Taco...and poof you have a 4 runner to go with it...If anything it keeps it around longer.

I'm thinking this is the last petrol generation of the Tacoma.

F1 weights like not evne half of Tacoma lol. That's why little thing like that has small 4cyl .

Leave alone 4runner which is an SUV and probably is heavier than the Taco.

I wouldn't go that far, but I would say that it is probably the last generation that has a ICE without a hybrid system attached to it. I think the next gen or even a mid gen refresh of this one will see the Hybrid be the entry powertrain.

F1 cars currently run V6's that are 1.6 liter turbo's.

I regret posting in this thread. What a shitshow this announcement has been, lots of people have earned ignoring rights on this and the 4Runner site.

Why are people so angry? There are dozens of cars for sale every year that we don't like, just move on with your life.

I like the 6th gen 4runner over 4th gen Taco if they are about the same in price.

OMG, that dash! When in the world is Toyota and other manufacturers going to get off this 'attach a computer monitor in the center of the dash' routine? That has to be one of the most annoying things ever, especially in all the new Toyotas. Additionally, it is just another unnecessary distraction to just driving. I will keep my 2003 Taco forever due to all the ungainly designs and electronics in the new vehicles these days.
I am also concerned about potential repairs down the road with all the electronics, are vehicles going the way of washing machines, too costly to repair when a control board goes out after 5 years? Thanks, but no thanks I'll keep my old tech and not worry about expensive repairs in the future.
I would just imagine if Toyota were to build a simple truck like the old 1st gen they would not be able to build enough of them to supply the demand.

As it is now it will more than likely be more, considering the current 5th gen has a starting price of 40K vs the 4th Gen tacoma starting price of 31,500. I would guess the starting price for a base 4 runner 2wd will run about 43K

The Landcruiser specs are almost identical to the 4 runner (size etc) but the screen is integrated into the dash, sounds like that one might be right up your alley.

And this is why you're not on the Toyota team. You're completely out of touch with reality that the world is ever-changing/advancing (we can agree that every change isn't always good, but the fact remains). Your opinion is not the opinion of the hundreds of thousands of people who buy these new vehicles. But the world needs both, so don't lose your sense of hating technology.

I think it looks great and I am stoked the 4Runner and Tacoma are more closely related again. This is what I was hoping it would look like.

For some reason I am not feeling it. More looking to the hybrid Tacoma reviews this week and I hate the gloss black fender flares going to scratch so easy

My 2006 IS350's electronics are all doing great still. You can be afraid of technology but it's what consumers want. You're in the minority here.

Not terrible but I'm not a fan of base models so I'm looking at probably 60k for the TRD Pro.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
Yup. And it's been like that for a while starting with sport compacts.

Not a truck, but 20 years ago the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO and the Subaru WRX STi were making that much power out of their 4 cylinder.

The 4G63T engine on the EVO has been regarded as a good engine. I know several who dailied their modified ones without much issue.

People I personally know daily modified GTI's and R's with their EA888's making that much power and more. Modern engineering is a great thing.
