Long story short I own a Hvac business I usually run everything out of my trailer. I've had a bad run with Chevys so I figured I'd go back to a tacoma, I had a 1997 2.7 4x4 great vehicle but never really towed much. My question is can it be done if I grabbed a 2012 Reg Cab 2.7 4x4. I only really use the trailer for installs and hauling around my Outkander ATV. I appreciate it.

I pull a 6x10 single axle pace cargo sport with a 2.7L 4x4 5sp manual. It pulled it with my gen1 2.7 too. My 2015 Access cab pulls it better.
My trips are all over into the mountains of West Virginia. The loaded trailer is around 2200 lbs. Never had a problem.

I see, was thinking about an access cab being with more length. Did by chance you install an aftermarket Hitch? I hear a lot of getting coolers for the oil/fluid and such have you installed one at all? My trailer weighs 1300 curb weight with about 400 lbs if tools, shelves, pipe etc oh and a 600 on ATV I just do my want to blow up my trans. My dad tows stuff all the time with his celica yes I said said celica mind you it's his beater car but he toes all the time with it and tells me I'll be fine

    Matt,
It feels steadier pulling with the extra length. My truck came with a port installed Class III hitch and 4 wire plug (listed on the window sticker). From what I can see it has no engine oil cooler and my trailer has no brakes. With the manual transmission there is no cooler needed. I have RedLine MT 90 in the transmission and transfer case and synthetic oil in the diff's. I pull my trailer over some pretty steep roads in WV and have not had problem to date.
