Picked up a New Travel trailer, when connecting the trailer I noticed the 7 pin plug is pretty loose in the truck receptacle. There is hardly no retention from the blade style pins or the center round pin,the plug is actually being retained by the plastic nub on the plug locking into the receptacle door. Just wondering if this is normal? Can the retention be improved?
Inside the truck receptacle is very clean, same with the plug. In the end pulling the trailer gave no indication of a problem.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    This is how it works.
Make sure that the door tab locks over the end of the plug and you'll be fine.

Mine will sometimes wiggle loose even with the tab inside the flap. I took a roll of electrical tape and put a couple wraps around the edge of the plug. Fits tighter, no more jiggles.

Does everything function otherwise? You can push outward the pins in the truck’s connector. Just be careful not to bend too far or you’ll flatten the blades into the housing. Also put some dielectric grease on the pins.

I get it, but it's such an integral part of towing. It doesn't give a real positive feel. Anyway thanks

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
It’s possible that the trailer plug is worn.

try a new 7 to 4 pin adapter with the test lights in it and see how it feels. If that’s tight and all the light work, think about replacing your plug on the trailer.

Mine fits a bit loosely as well... It worried me at first but the plastic tab seems to keep it in place and the lights all work consistently. I like the idea of a few layers of electrical tape around the plug, or may try a zip tie if it becomes an issue but long story short I think it's normal - just how it fits.

Thanks, it's all new stuff, New Casita travel trailer the plug is what comes with the trailer
The receptacle is came on the truck and was never used until now 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road.
Even inspected inside the receptacle clean, Gota be slight dimensional changes with plug manufacturers. Maybe a layer of electrical tape, or a reusable toe rap will be ok Thanks
