Busted the factory 7 pin plug and mount driving over a curb the other week. Want to take the opportunity to relocate the plug up to the bumper next to the license plate. Have a few questions about doing so. I'm 99% sure my truck has the towing package (attached pics of oil and trans coolers) - bought slightly used from a chevy dealership, only looking for the long bed, tow pkg was a surprise bonus I found afterwards.
    1. Has anyone had any issues with relocating the plug? Seems like a pretty common modification.
    2. Is there an aftermarket plug that would pop right into the existing socket (second attached pic) without rewiring? Thinking the different wiring of the tow package may prohibit this.
    3. If there is an aftermarket plug, how do you get the plug uncoupled? I tried every way on the white "lock" but didn't want to break it.

those things look badass, but since my plastic mount got smashed and the cap broke off, I need that as well. As far as I can tell, that entails an entire new plastic assembly (plug and mount with screw holes), so I figured I'd go the in-bumper mount route

With the OEM 7-pin, it can easily be relocated to the driver side license plate light hole (after removing the light). You just need to drill 2 mounting holes through the bumper.
