i have never commented about fumoto valves so i guess i am over due...lucky you. i can change my oil with that plastic thing that comes in every box and a piece of hose without spilling a drop. if you are so clumsy you have to spend $40 on a valve to help you, go for it but realize a little technique goes a long way. there are endless accessories that do nothing but line the seller's pockets. i personally think it is different with cap wrenches. some break the tabs and some don't. don't skimp there but a little care and you don't need a fumoto valve. or the right color funnel. for new members that have never changed their oil i would suggest doing it without a fumoto first and if you break a nail and pee yourself, get one

Without the Fumoto valve oil from the pan spills all over the TRD crash plate. It does not drain straight down, it gushes.

Fumoto replaces the drain bolt. I've never dried the oil filter plastic doohikie in the oil pan. I do not know if it will fit thru the drain hole in the crash plate.

oops. i am conflating pan drain with filter housing issue. egg on face. i really just wanted to say "break a nail" this morning. :D
again, if it is a problem for some trims, then not a bad idea.

I don’t remember much about those anymore…:drunk:

We were camping were there were a couple kids with a party ball and they finally went to bed late after making a bunch of noise, and laughing loudly when randomly setting off explosions by throwing sealed cans of soup in their campfire. Then later that evening in the very early morning hours we were awakened by loud calls for help because their car was on fire. It was done for as there was no way to put it out and then one of the guys started complaining and getting mad that they left the party ball in their car!

I was going to do it the old fashioned way, but I didn’t for the exact reasons you mentioned. I should get a Fumoto though, especially now since I’ve realized I have the propensity for stupidity and negligence.

Maybe I still did something wrong but I drained out whatever was in the oil filter using the motivX tool. Got probably 1/3 of a quart out, so I’m probably at the 6.6 range now. Started the truck up and drove around for a bit. I think I’ll probably do the same thing again and I should be at the perfect level.

Hopefully my stupidity is a lesson for someone else lol

Let it sit overnight and check the oil level then. Worst case scenario, all oil will have a chance to drain down.
Next time just use the 6qrts. I am doing another change in 2 weeks, and that's what I will do. 5qrt+1qrt of Idemitsu 0w-20.
