I think the difference tiring with a 2017 Tacoma DCSB 4x4 V6 auto is going to be dismal either way.

I’ve saw photos of you guys towing 7’ wide. Anyone throw a 8’6” wide behind the truck.

    thoughts?

Trailer I’m looking at is 8.5x16 tandem.

    Edit, Trailer Purchased

Got a deal on an all aluminum 7x16 trailer and took it. Not my first pick color wise, but cheapest Alcom trailer I could find.

Supposedly weighs 1600lbs. Gonna add some to that with L-Track, Vinyl Diamond Flooring, and Insulation soon.

P3 brake controller was installed the week prior.

    Oh look, another mod....

Just make sure the weight is within specs of what you can tow. The width of the trailer only means you need to get longer trailer mirrors for your Tacoma. Make sure you can see the back corners of the trailer, for safety.

I tow an 86" single axle, 17 feet ball to tail. That's right at the max width/length for the stock mirrors, and even then I run a wide angle camera so that I have a warning of what's approaching.

For an 8 footer I'd definitely want the dodge cornholio mirrors.

That looks like a lot of trailer when loaded for a Taco. No matter what width you go with my first concern would be what are you hauling and total weight of trailer when loaded.

How does it do towing? Can you see the back of the trailer in your mirror?

I'm looking at a 7x14, simple "base camp" setup, and transport my 8' long velomobile. Yes, it's a funny bicycle (carbon fiber shell)

1600# does seem light for the size. Hit a scale and find out the "real weight."

I assume they had to get a weight on the trailers at some point for the weight rating on the tongue. I’m unsure how strict DOT is on manufactures to be accurate on those though.

It pulls fine for what it is, around town and max speeds of 55 you’re golden. When I get on the interstate I set the truck up to not shift into overdrive, so 4th gear, it does fine. In 4th I’m turning around 2700 rpms at 70 MPH i think. It will shift down into 3rd for hills raising RPM’s to 4k.

As far as seeing goes it’s fine, no blind spots. I did install a wide angle camera on the center in the back for backing up and I can turn it on to see if someone is tailgating. Cars can disappear behind it, but once they get beside it even at the rear you will see them.

It's tempting to buy one of those and convert it to a toy hauler. I think it would be fun to design and build the interior to fit my specific needs.
