Absolutley. But the ones I listed are many times more refined. I was just pointing out that high hp in a car isn't that new. Don't get me wrong, as I can appreciate high hp in vehicles just like the next guy, but without the chassis to handle the hp, what real good is it? Your gonna need to stop that vehicle, turn, etc. Ive built vehicles that hit the dyno with 550 hp to the tires (over 600 at the crank), and they were fun as fuck. Its just not that hard to take a large cubic inch engine, and make it push large hp numbers. With the tech available today, I want to see higher numbers, with more refinement, and drivability.

I don't think there is any way that car would hit the selves for under 100k. The new Viper is getting close hp numbers, and is well north of 100k.

2014 gt500 produces 705 at the crank (dyno proven not Fords numbers) and sells for 60k

As others have said, fords reply will be epic. In the last five years they have shown much more rapid adoption and ingenuity with new engine technology (Ecoboost and hybrid) than Dodge, they will have an SRT stomping answer and it will cost less than a hellcat.

I would like to see Ford build another supercar.. something above the mustang. Chevy has the corvette amd dodge has the viper but ford hasnt built anything like that since the GT. If they could build a car to beat ferrari before im sure they could do it again

I have no doubt they could put something like that together. The issue likely is that Ford tends to actually listen to there dealers (I know crazy right) and other than the protests when they scrapped the Ranger Ford cooperate tends to answer what they need. Unless dealers start complaining they can't sell Mustangs because the Corvette's to nice they probably won't go there. They didn't sell many GT's, and I think the main reason was it had nowhere near the brand recognition that Corvette does. Oh and the price tag was EXTREME for what you got. Funny enough I asked my Fiance if she knew what the viper was and she had no clue but she obviously knew what a Corvette was (and wants one :) ). The Viper IMHO is a hobby car. It has great numbers but there are better options at it's price tag, most of the people who buy one are either collecting or MOPAR addicts. If I had Viper money I'd buy a Nissan GT-R and run circles around the Viper. Anyways that kind of leads to my point. I think when you spend +$80K on a car you are looking for extreme performance to back up that brand recognition to the bitches and buddies, or that brand better be sweet (Porsche, etc.). If this new Challenger is anywhere near $100K they won't sell other than to collectors and MOPAR nuts.

Just FYI I know Ford listens because I have a client who is involved with several ford dealers and has seen ford respond well to dealer suggestions.

1000hp+ isn't impressive when you can hardly put it to the ground without drags. Most of these cars couldn't handle a racecourse well enough in my book...

Still cool cars coming from mass-producing companies. But meh.

America never left the game of high powered cars. Do any of you not remember the 03/04 cobra? that car was and still is a great car that can make great power. Now yes this new mopar is impressive but lets just see if all the talk holds up once it hits the streets. There are plenty of cars out there pushing way more power and cost less..
