Because people dont know how to shop around or dont get good with the sales people. If I walked into my buddies dealer and told him I want the most basic gt500 and I want it for sticker, he would get me one and it would be 56k + tax title tags

MSRP on the most basic gt500 is $55110 plus $750 delivery fee. Then once you pay your tax title and tags you would be right at $60k (with PA taxes). Like i said, it all depends on the options you add to it but for a car like that i wouldnt need anything more than the standard equipment

Shoot a good rider on a bicycle would scare a Prius driver during a drag race. Don't think I would spend 60K to make a lot of noise.

    Different time different era.

If you think a new Shelby Mustang is going to be what a 1969 GT500 is going for I figure you'd be wrong.

Even though the Mopar is a nice looking car with some impressive power it will never fetch the amount of the car you linked. Of the Big 3, Chrysler has the dubious distinction of being the most sub par with GM following a close second. With all the recalls that GM has had in the recent past they may have taken last place.

Now... what would interest me more is how fast the Mopar can make it around a track rather than drive in a straight line. Street light to street light doesn't impress me.

*EDIT* Something tells me it won't lap the Nurburgring in 6:57 min / secs like the Porsche 918 Spider or to make it more American and most likely the same price range the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Z07 Package in 7:22 min / secs

Agree. If pure acceleration is wanted, most any new sport bike can peg 0-60 in under 3 seconds, and cost under 10k.

Dodge Viper did it in 7:12..

Also I agree with Ford and top gear that the Nurburgring is a BS way of finding out how fast a production car is. There are no pre or post run inspections meaning that there is no ome checking to see if manufacturers tweaked their cars just to have better numbers (which im sure some do) while its cool to see what a car will do its no definitive way to determine how fast it really is.

The new off the lot muscle cars are going to be bought by baby boomers ,, they are 98% about the old days drag cars.. very few will buy one of these for the SCCA. That is the playground of the vett & porsche for sure. In Fla. the Sat. night cruise ins & drag strips are full of boomers with $$$$ . Just saying

I agree with you on the tweaking the manufacturers most likely do. As far as the Viper goes I was trying to find a vehicle that was likely in the same price range as the Dodge which was the Z06.

That said... I seriously doubt any amount of tweaking (short of making it a full fledged race car) would make the Dodge close to the Corvette.

I like tracks that actually have turns in them. Your idea of fun (although valid) differs from mine. ;)

I had a 59 Vett it still had king pin front suspension went pretty good--- straight. Rally weed wacker engine 300+HP 450 foot pounds torque goes where intended.

WTF does this have to do with any comment made? First, 99% of the auto racing in the USA involves turning a vehicle in one direction or another. Second, All he did was say it wasn't his thing? Fan base doesn't mean someone is a retard if they don't watch, or follow it.
