Haha I wasn’t stuck, but really did not want to slip the rear end into that fat rut. It would’ve been ugly I think. Would probably still be there. Better safe than sorry. I was solo. So I wasn’t taking that chance

Definitely better to play it safe but going out solo is risky. At least you seem prepared.

This was a poor time to realize I forgot my ether. And had no spare. But I got it seated and continued

I would be interested in buying a couple depending on price if you are willing to make them.

I recently picked up a recovery ring from 7p. Went out to test and works great as part of a full synthetic line recovery system. I tied my own 1/2” dyneema soft shackle to pair with the recovery ring.

7p has their recovery rings made by Red Winches and they’re much cheaper if you buy directly from Red winches in the UK. I purchased two recovery rings from Red and it was still less than one ring from 7P.

I made my own recovery ring, and have a few extra I am selling. If you want one PM me. The rings I make are 4.75" OD with a 1.25" hole and a grove for up to 1/2" winch line.

I have used the 1/2" Regular and XL soft shackles from C4RS and from SouthEast Overland. The XL soft shackle seems to work better, no real reason why other than it is easier to get everything connected with a little extra length.

I like it! but wow... $100 per for the p7's... I have a 22,000lb rated steel snatchblock (my concern with this is the winch rope getting picnhed/snagging on the roller/housing), my only concern with these is if the rope slips out of the roller, and how much heat is generated with the spool, and soft shackle, especially if the rope slips out of the groove and rubs on the chaff guard... nice lightweight design though.. and should hold up as long as you dont drag them through the mud, or get the rope surfaces scraped..

I have tried to get the rope to "slip" out of the sheaves I have made, and on the several occasions I have used them the rope will NOT come out once under any amount of tension. Mine are also much less than $100 each. PM me for details.
