$1,400 + shipping ($75-80ish to most US locations)

    Located in Plano (DFW) TX.

Up for sale I have a 3rd member for a 2nd gen 8.4” (non-locking) axle. This diff was built by Zuk the gear wizard using the following parts:

    Eaton Detroit TrueTrac LSD 913A541
    OEM carrier bearings
    OEM pinion bearings
    OEM pinion seal
    OEM pinion nut
    OEM companion flange
    ECGS crush sleeve eliminator
    Revolution 5.29 gears REM polished

This was originally a project for my 3rd gen. Unfortunately the pinion angle on the axle housing didn’t work with the angle needed on my truck and so I had vibrations. The diff itself runs well, Zuk did a great job and the parts are quality.

Please PM with questions. If I need to ship this, I’ll do so with it in 2 boxes and surrounded by plenty of cushion. I will get shipping quotes using the cheapest place I know of, unless you wish to provide a label instead.

If you do need to ship it, I've had good luck with 5gal Home Depot buckets, contractor trash bags, and spray foam.

my 6mt is close to right (if not right) on 4.88,

so I'd imagine this could work for 5AT (35's)

It was a joke from Dave, he has a 2.7L 5MT on stock tires.

I do think a V6 5AT on 35’s would benefit well from this, but nobody else seems to think so based on the lack of interest.

There was a post of guy not happy with 4.88 on 5AT not being short enough for him which tells me 5.29 might be the thing for autos.

you’re right this seems like a great deal.
    Truetrac $600
Build labor like at least $375 (hard to find anyone who even does it let alone locally)
master install parts kit around $500
and you’re getting it already made

I’m tempted for my dad’s 06 PreRunner but the 4.0 zooms just fine w stock gears and wheels.

Free bump. I have 5.29 gears with 315/75/16. Rpm is a little high on the freeway but works just fine. Should be perfect for 37s

I swapped a 2nd gen housing into my truck, briefly.

Sure you don’t want some 5.29s?

You could always 4x4 swap your truck and get 37s or 40s Then the 5.29 would be the best choice

    375 is a dream

I just payed 775 in LABOR to rebuild my 3rd member. Hugely regret not going with ECGS and regearing since I’m on 35s……
    Oh well

    List it on FleBay?
I would get it packaged up and enter the info into FleBay’s shipping calculator.
It does the calculations by weight, size and distance. It’s pretty accurate if you enter the correct numbers.
    Just an idea.
Curious question how did you get the 3rd member to Ken in Prescott AZ? He told me he won’t ship anything anymore. He said he didn’t need the headaches.
He’s retired and hangs out in his garage just enjoying life and watching his cat explore. It’s really a simple (not fancy) and beautiful place he is in. He does the best work too!
I love to watch him as he spends as much time as he needs to make things the best they can be. He keep taking my 3rd member apart just to move the gear .001 closer to where he wants it. I told him it’s good and he said no I think I can get it closer. He moved the gear then checked it and said now it’s to tight so he changed it back to where it was. He really enjoys the challenge of each job. :notsure:

I might list it on eBay, was just hoping to not need to. I have a guy nearby interested but he keeps being a pain to deal with (not responding for a few days at a time), so I may have to resort to eBay.

Ken was willing to let me ship it and all the parts to him, but he wouldn’t ship the anssembled 3rd back out. I paid someone who kindly went and picked it up, packed it up and shipped it for me.

You could cross post this in the 1st gen BST section - a 2nd gen rear 8.4 3rd member is a direct swap into any 1st gen 4x4 or Prerunner rear axle housing. 5.29 gears is a great setup for 4AT with 33”+ or 5MT with 35”+ tires.

I have 5 diffs done by Ken. They are all fantastic. But I’m too wimpy for 5.29’s.

The 1st gen doesn’t have a smaller flange bolt pattern of 60x60? I thought I’d need to buy a dual pattern flange in order to sell it to a 1st gen.

I think that’s just on the t-case side, rear pinion is the same (66x66?).
