That's definitely the reason, super duties are being discounted as well no special rates I'm aware of.

Navy Federal is 4.99% on a 60 month.

    USAA 5.75% on a 36 month.

A bunch of credit unions compared (but there's tons more with lower rates):
Credit Union Auto Loans in 2024 | LendingTree

Consumers Credit Union 5.99 on 60 month:
Effective Rates for Accounts, Certificates, & Loans | Consumers Credit Union (myconsumers.org)

Tons of little oddball credit unions with rates around 4.99% up to 60 month. For instance this one in Maine.
Who Can Join Coast Line Credit Union - Coast Line Credit Union (coastlinecu.com)

If you are a teacher, fire fighter, paramedic, EMT, state or local government employee, police officer, university employee, corrections worker, federal employee, active duty, retired military, railroad worker, whatever, there's probably some little credit union out there that you can join from anywhere in the country that has very good loan rates. Just need to search for them. For instance, found one in California that I was able to join due to a specific job I have that had 5.5% on a 60 month. When you figure inflation running 3-3.3%, my effective loan rate is basically 2.5% -- assuming your wages at least keep pace with inflation.

Sometimes family members of those employees are eligible for discounted loan rates through those credit unions.
