Solid advice. Only thing I would add is that even if he were to prove the other driver being at fault and he could final a diminished value claim, looking at the age of his truck and assuming there are probably 60,000 miles or more, his diminished value check would probably be enough to buy a tank of gas.

They had the body on a hoist.

They rolled the chassis under the body and lowered the body to the somewhat correct position.

Most likely the hoist arms and floor are not perfectly parallel.

The fact that the welder had lay on the floor to install the mounts probably pissed him off because there was a perfectly good hoist sitting there.

A can allow the spacers, the welds are what bother me.

He probably would not get a ton, agree with you there. Also, need to keep in mind that even if his company proves the other guy was at fault, how much liability coverage does the other guy have? He'd have to share with State Farm on a pro-rata basis if the damages to the truck + any amount he claims for DOV or other out of pocket expenses exceeds the other guy's property damage coverage limit. State minimum in TX is $25k.

Not perfect, but to the exact same quality as it was before the wreck. Nothing aftermarket is perfect

At this point I would document it with pictures, buy a new set of mounts, and take it to a quality shop who does this sort of thing, and pay for it. Submit it to the insurance company for reimbursement. Worse case you pay for that out of pocket. You can always look at your long multi-page invoice and see how much parts and labor you have in that relocated cab mount job. Then ask for a refund since it was not done properly. Not ideal but probably the only way you can get it done right.

You need a fab shop. They cut them off, clean them up and properly weld them back on.

The entire process would drive me nuts. If you have a way to get out of the vehicle and purchase something else I would do that and change insurance companies. Also, consider moving out of Texas given their total loss requirements.

I agree. I just need to get State Fram or Caliber to pay for it

I would consider this if I 100% knew that the cab mounts are the only issue. Who knows what else is hidden underneath all the work.

I have Collision Safety Consultants looking into the work. We'll see what they say

Looks like the driver's side mount was welded on a little lower that the passenger side was, and the washers appear to be and attempt to make up for that difference.

You're correct. Driver mount is welded about a quarter inch lower than passenger mount. It's hard to get an exact measurement with all the extra material though.

Yep, i had an experience with Caliber Collision in Atlanta that i wouldnt recommend. Missing parts and pieces. They were more worried about me leaving a good review than actually doing a good job. I inspected it as well as i could. A few years later i was rear ended again and i took it to a different shop that pulled me into the back and showed me how poorly it was welded and repaired the first time and they totaled the vehicle (did me a favor)

They also sent my car off to another shop that did most of the work.

It's a real issue because we didn't choose the shop they sent it to...

i leaned against my bumper and the little plastic piece that covers the tow port popped out. they had glued it to the metal tow port.

Looking at the manufacturer's photos, @drtfabrication, it looks like the use of a washer is acceptable... but maybe not 4 of them.

Interesting....it looks like the cab mount is supposed to have one washer on each side (per c4 fab). My truck has 4 on one side and zero on the other.
