Will do, thank you. One thing I will say is that the actual body/collision repair work done by Caliber itself seems to be great. It's the work they outsourced to the other shop that is substandard.

I will make this call today

The person you need to speak to is likely not in on the weekend. I'd wait until Monday. If I can be of any further help, happy to do so.

Their name says safety right in the title. Bet they would love to go over this cab mount relocation, and would have some strong opinions about it.

OP, I have been through this whole thread a couple of times and in the end I think you will be ok. My guess is the C4 cab mount relocation just needs to be done and perhaps some better paint work (like removing tape lines in the door jamb). Caliber, while not my choice, repairs a lot of vehicles and does routine work to a regular standard.

My guess is they sublet the frame replacement to a mechanical shop. The mechanical shop probably said WTF to the cab mount kit and brought in a mobile welder and botched that part of the job.

In the end, Collision Safety Consultants will probably reveal this. If you want it done right though I would find a good off road shop to re-do the cab mount part of the job and make sure the cost gets covered. 4 Wheel parts can probably do this, though there would be an extra charge for removing the old mounts. Best would be if you can find someone to TIG it, though not necessary.

This is a very simple and routine upgrade for a competent off-road oriented shop. It was out of the scope for the mechanic who swapped the frame.

Please let us know what CSC says.

And when done, don't forget to cosmoline up that new frame!!

Thanks for the feedback. I agree with everything here down the line.

And that's exactly what they did for the frame.

Yeah, I'd like to get @Mynameisbrandin to do it.....even if it cant be fixed at least Ill know someone who knows what they're doing tried their best. I just need effing State Farm to buck up and pay me for it. More to come.

OP if you don’t mind can you share if there are separate line items for installing the C4 kit for parts and labor? Or is this just buried into the hours for the frame replacement?

Yup. Line 105 on the invoice I initially posted. They charged 750 to do it

Phone operator said I could bring it to any shop of my choice to have it fixed.

    1. Shop has to notate on the estimate that the faulty repairs were due to the accident (which they were).
    2. They have to send the estimate to SF to be validated.
    3. I can pay the shop directly and be reimbursed, or SF can pay shop (could take 7-10 business days to process)

    Seemed easy enough....too easy? lol

That's good. No reason why they wouldn't. I would just make sure you find a shop you trust who can do this once and do it right. Make sure the cab is level, clean welds, etc. Now you will be in an off road shop world and not a collision shop world. While it is possible to have an estimate and SF pay them correctly, it may be smoother for you to pay and then get reimbursed from SF.

Just like the body shop is used to dealing with collision work and insurance companies and not aftermarket off road gear, this shop will be the other way around. If you can float the money you may get a quicker and better result.

    Yup....

Collision Safety Consultants never got back to me after I sent them photos and videos of the damage/repairs to be evaluated. I don't have time to deal with lackluster companies anymore so I just left it at that.

State Farm initially authorized me to go to an independent shop to fix the faulty repairs, then they reversed their decision, stating I need to go through Caliber Collision to fix the repairs.

I went up to Caliber Collision to tell them the situation, and they authorized me to use a shop of my choosing to fix the repairs, as they do not have the ability to fix them in-house.

The truck is now getting fixed correctly by @Mynameisbrandin (4LoFab). It was immediately obvious to him that the cab-mount relocate and alignment setup were done improperly.

Overall, Caliber was great about letting me use a specialty shop to get it done right. Brandin should be done working on it in a couple/few weeks.

Sounds good. Looks like Caliber is doing the right thing and allowing you to sublet it to 4LowFab. My guess is they will eat the initial labor for the job not done right but that is small potatoes given the size of the job and the potential liability. Out of curiosity is Caliber paying 4Low directly or are you paying and getting reimbursed? If you don't want to comment on a public forum I understand. I am just curious.

But please humor us and cosmoline up that brand new frame even though you are in Texas!

Caliber is paying 4Lo directly. They are going to go after the initial shop that they sublet to the first time to get their money back for the initial repairs.

Yeah I got 6 cans of cosmoline, gonna spray it once I get the truck back
