    1. I want the truck to be flawless and run perfectly until 400,000 miles.
    2. A v8 with 700hp and 40mpg
    3. Telepathic engineers and designers to put out color combinations that I want
    4. Paint that lasts for 20 years without fading or chipping.
    5. A stereo that puts SPL comp rigs to shame
    6. Baja 1000 Spec suspension, that rides perfectly and handles like a BMW when not
    in the dirt

Really guys, its a truck. Engineers and designers are never going to get every single aspect of the truck perfect to everyones standards. The suspension is tuned on the soft side because they want the truck to appeal to a broader audience, thereby selling more units. The stereo performs great when compared to previous offerings in the tacomas and pretacos. And the 4.0 v6 is the most powerful engine ever put in a tacoma.

I love my truck, meaning that I accept that its not perfect, but it suits my needs and I enjoy driving it. If you don't like the truck, sell it and buy a prius.

We know, that is why the thread is called "things I wish Toyota would do with the Tacoma". I think the thread is more about small things that they may have missed or could improve on or at least this is what I see it as, but I get your point.

If you want bigger and more power why not go with the Tundra?
Column shifter? Are you crazy? Trucks should all be floor shift imo.
Slower wiper? You have intermittent wipers? Mine seem fine.
Eh. To each his own I guess. Thats why they make aftermarket parts.

WOW, I was just throwing things out there in the hopes some Toyota corporate types read this.

I've had 3 tacos, 95 prerunner, 99 xtra cab 4wd and now my 09 double cab 4wd. Love them all.

I bought a 2006 TRD 4wd Double cab Tundra (because it had a $5,000 rebate) and did not like it. I do not like the new Tundra at all. WAY TOO BIG for me.

The V8 wish I had was more of a "that would be cool in a Tacoma wish".
As far as the other wish, a lot of trucks have column shift, including the new Tundra's. It can make useful room for a CB radio, a bigger center compartment, etc. It is something I would just think would be a option in a truck.
The wipers are just fine, but if it's a lite sprinkle/drizzle (which it is always the case in Bakersfield) it seems that the slowest speed is still too fast for the lite sprinkle. If not a lot of water collects on the windshield between the wiper actions, it will make an annoying squeaking noise. If a fair amount of water is on the windshield than it will not make that annoying sound as loud or not at all. On my old Firebird the slowest setting was about 30 seconds or almost a minute long if not longer between the slower wiper actions. It seems like it doesn't go over 10-15 seconds on my truck. Maybe there is a slower setting on it I haven't figured out how to use or how to adjust it slower. I'll look in the manual later and see if that is the case.
Does that answer your question for why I put some of these wishes on here Slypted?

I agree on this! It does seem like it bends up high when I strap my bike in. But no problem yet, but it still makes me look in my rear view mirror a lot when I'm driving down the road.

I "wish" the next tacoma would be based off one of these.
These are the toyotas that have a reputation for lasting for ever.

I don't use those cheesy tie-downs anymore either. I did the d-ring mod and added 4 more d-rings to my bed bolts and just use those. I trust them.

The only thing I wish Toyota would do is round up all the soccer Moms on the design team and throw the bitches out the window and require all new applicants to actually have a minimum of 5 years offroad trail experience

Nah, no problems yet, but its annoying when the tranny revs like crazy for no reason. My ticking was quieted a bit by following the post by chris4x4 (using rubber washers to isolate some emission's crap. Its "sticky'd" at the top of the page.

I like it. My wish list, in order of precedence, would be:

    #1. Manual T-case
#2. 2.5-3.0 or so Turbo Diesel motor.
#3. Better/stronger 6 spd design (based on what I have read)
    #4. Boxed/Gussoted frame.
#5. All rubber or vinyl flooring.
#6. 2" or so more clearance from the factory all around.
#7. Delete all the extra sheet metal hanging off the bed on the rear corners aft of the wheel wells and extend the bumper
#8. Offer a new "Offroad edition" will all the above, no power windows.
