Has anyone installed an 8" woofer in the front door of their taco? If so did you use it in a free-air application or build a small enclosure? If so how did you do it? I have an access cab and want a little more bass but without having a sub box lying around in the back seat.

Woofer or midbass? I certainly think you can get an 8 in there no problem.

if your talking a woofer, I can see the sheet metal shaking a ton if you didn't deaden the hell out of the door.

just a good midbass, looking at possibly doing a 3-way setup with mid and tweeter in kickpanels. I've seen the subs in the access doors, but its just not my cup of tea, no offense to anyone that has them.

Sweet. Three way active or passive? What type of equipment are you using?

Oh i'll just be doing passive, i'm not quite up to the task of doing active. No idea on the equipment yet, the only thing I know I'll be using is my older ppi pcx series amps. Weren't you attempting to do an active setup? Think I saw that somewhere while searching here.

I am doing an active (two way) setup. It's just been a trainwreck trying to get stuff moving. Had to return my headunit and it was taking forever. Waiting on the new one now.

Which headunit are you using? Kind of partial to Eclipse myself. I see you are in the DFW area, where at? I work in Allen and am moving to Plano in March.

I'm actually getting an Eclipse AVN 726e. I'm in the Las Collinas area so I'm pretty close to there.

That looks pretty cool, wish they still made some with 8-volt pre-outs, kicking myself for getting rid of mine.

Me too. I had an 8445; loved that unit. If it did 2way active it would have been the PERFECT unit.
