Thanks. I made the bug screen. It is a magnetic separating type I found at Walmart. It was for a single size door so I sewed some extra material on both sides to make it wide enough. Then I cut it to the shape of the rear opening and sewed Velcro around it. I used self-adhesive Velcro around the rear opening so it's easy to put up or take down when not needed.

Looks awesome! Do you have any photos of the base plate construction and how you attach to it? That's the part I'm struggling with the most right now. How to do a base plate and how to attach fridge slides, cabinets, ect.. to it.

Yeah, I think most who went the DIY baseplate method are using the factory bed mounting bolts/holes. If you go w/ 1/2" thick plywood the factory bolts are plenty long enough. I have a few pics/information on how I did mine on my build thread below. I am only using the front 4 bed mounting points to secure my baseplate & it has been fine.

    It's 1/4" 5-ply plywood glued over 1/2" foam insulation.

    1) How's the velcro holding up?
(I was thinking snaps as I have had velcro come loose after thermal cycling.)

    2) Have you insulated/carpeted the remaining bare aluminum around the edges?
(I was thinking that with the insulation kit there seemed to be many sections that are not insulated and would be cold to the touch.)

Would love to see more photos on any new mods.

    Thanks

The Velcro is working great. I've had the screens in and out several times and it's solid. I don't foresee any trouble.

I haven't covered the remaining bare aluminum. It gets cold but it's not a problem for me.

No new mods. I'm at the end of a month long trip to Florida to escape the worst of the Midwest winter. I've spent almost 40 nights in the Drifter and I'm very pleased with this setup.

Any chance you would know the name of blue arrow? I'm trying to scour the sites you've mentioned and having no luck.

I'm not sure what was used here; it's likely you can buy individual fittings.

But, you can just buy a stick of aluminum square tubing and cut to whatever length fitting you want. Drill 2 holes for the bolts. Done.

Yes, it's described right above the photo in the post you quoted. Often during these kind of projects you have to do a little custom fabrication.

The tap wrench and thread tap are available at any hardware or farm store(Lowes, Home Depot, Fleet Farm, etc.) or I'm sure Amazon has them.

I sold the camper and interior build but I still have the truck, although it will be going soon too. I'm changing things up a bit.
