Your timing should work. Sbpd is 16-19 officers short and they can't hire because candidates keep failing background checks.

Hmm I wonder why? Perhaps all the scrutiny the "justice" system is under these days. Come over to the dark side and join the military.

Such bullshit. A kid died the other day in IV because he took acid and punched a window severing an artery and everybody in IV is saying it's because the cops and fire department are racist and didn't save him.

IVFP, UCPD, and the Fire Department here are the nicest people.

Usually people do die when they sever an artery and a tourniquet isn't applied promptly and correctly...
I'm guessing it was the brachial artery? What a shame those are a lot easier to control than others. The kid probably bled out before the paramedics got to him in that case, and if anything the bystanders should have at least tried to do something even if they are "certified". Just a crappy thing for all parties.

Don't take drugs and stay in school.

Anyone know a good place for windshield replacement? Got hit by a falling object.

Yeah it was brachial. He made it to the hospital but died right once he got there. Nobody did anything to help him until paramedics came and his heart rate was sped up by the drug so he bled out faster.

People were mad that the paramedics were taking the time to put on gloves. I don't know about you but I don't want HIV.
    Holy crap what object?

    SBPD article: http://www.noozhawk.com/article/santa_barbara_police_trying_to_hire_19_officers

I'd say a junkyard, but it depends on your insurance coverage and deductible. Also, if you go the junkyard route, while less expensive by far than Safeco or wherever, sometimes they do a really (and I mean terrible) job sealing the window and leaving the black goop on your a-pillars on the inside. But I'd still go the yard route if you don't want to spend $500-$1,000.

Mad at paramedics for putting on gloves but didn't even try to put pressure or put a tourniquet...makes sense. I keep a CAT tourniquet in my truck just in case.

I was parked under a train track trestle, a bolt or something must have rattled out.

That sucks man. Sorry to hear about the windshield.

I'm getting the first aid rotopax for my new bumper. For now I just have a crappy little first aid kit that I keep with me. I used to keep it in my open bed so people could get it if they needed it but it kept getting stolen for no good use. If somebody needed it and stole it, that would be great, but that was rare. That is why I put the fire extinguisher back there in the first place. Now it is a bit hard to get to. I wouldn't blame someone for breaking my window to get it in an emergency though.

An IFAK is really useful. Just make sure you get one with an actual CAT, NPA, Quick Clot, Pressure Bandage, etc etc. PPE is actually pretty important, despite the bad rap it is given in training.

Supposedly they had a blanket around it when officers arrived, which they just reapplied.
I keep a tourniquet in each survival kit. One in the truck, one with my riding gear, one in my bob. Silly not to have one imo
