Moved my license place to below the bumper.. From what I read online this should be legal. If I get a chance to ask a cop, I will..

Bad part is it hangs a bit low. Still not 100% if this will be its final form haha.

I like it. Fuck those CA front plates anyway. Mine is covered by a light bar, when (if) I get a winch it will go on the dash lol

Ya was thinking about that.. but I park a lot downtown and there is a lot of parking enforcement here. In fact, just the other day my buddy almost had his X5 towed.. He was parked 19" from the curb and didn't have a front plate. So the officer wrote two tickets then called a tow truck on the fact that he now had 4 outstanding parking violations. We literally walked out from lunch to the tow truck lining up and getting ready to hook up. Fuck that shit!

    Dash isn't legal either :(

edit* and having it covered by anything is also illegal

edit2* Here's a couple *super exciting* license plate reads:

    http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=veh&group=05001-06000&file=5200-5206

This one is interesting-- you can request that a dealer not install a front bracket. Wish i would have know when buying mine in '13.

I would rip off that license plate on my first offroad trip...but that's me and where I drive.

I used to have a thin "euro" license plate on the front of my VW Westy with the same digits as my regular plate. I never got hassled or a ticket - but it was a VW van, duuuude. :rasta: I'll bet you could get one and try it out although it is also technically illegal in California.

Is California the only state that requires front license plates?

Ya I hear ya. My thought was to remove it when going offroad since it's only two philips head screws.. I looked into trimming it and apparently thats a felony bc you're defacing government property :/ A slim euro plate would be cool but prolly not legal either.. fucking CA!

I remove my front plate when offroading because it is mounted to a plate which covers two light bars (LED bars must be covered in CA as well while on public roads, don't ya know...)

Right on. I feel like cops would be less strict about light covers vs no front plate.. No plate just gives them an excuse to fuck with you..

Do you cover the roof light bar too?

    edit* yup you do haha

    yes. see above.
My brother got a ticket out past palm springs in his Jeep Wrangler because of the A-pillar lights not having covers...depends on the cop's mood.

Should be fine. Holes in the bumper can be fixed by purchasing a steel bumper ;)

I am going to put on a glare shield for the roof light which should be able to flip up and down when you loosen the bolts, and then I won't have the annoying reflection everyone gets inside the windshield which eliminates the point of a roof mounted LED bar.

So going out on a limb here....would anyone want to help (more like teach/show me how to) replace some brake calipers?
Apparently my bleeder valve was torn off on the passenger side. Do I need to replace both? (I'm thinking it makes sense to replace both, rather than have to worry about one then the other)
Any recommendations on brakes? I was thinking of either going to a stealership to have OEM or generic ceramic pads put on.

If anyone is interested and has tools or wouldn't mind going onto the Vandenberg auto hobby shop on a Saturday....
To make it worth your while I'll supply you with a weekends worth of adult beverages and a lifetime of gratitude :)
I'm trying to get this done before all the holidays and what not, if there isn't any interest, anyone care to point me towards a mechanic other than the dealership in Lompoc that is decent?
    Thanks in advance!

How did you tear off a bleeder valve?
Do you need calipers replaced or pads?
